If he'd plug a strip into one of those outlets he could get a lot more available spots! Not that I would do that :).

Welcome to my world. I encounter this same thing many times per week in my daily duties. I have to explain to my fellow City employees that they cannot plug every known appliance into their cubicle! I've seen hot-plates, refrigerators, microwaves, not to mention space heaters. Then they have the nerve to complain when the breaker trips & they lose what they were working on the computer. We need an Electrician smilie!

He,he! That's my SO's idea of finding space to plug things in- needless to say, I won't let him touch anything in the living room- that's where the computer is, lol!

I guess I just never pictured a forum so dependent on one plug...but of course it is!

What happened is that apparently hackers got in to our web host's network via someone else's weak FTP password, and placed some malicious software on to the network, which in turn caused the outage. That has all been cleaned up, and they are taking the necessary steps to see that it doesn't happen again.
Just a reminder to use strong passwords for all sensitive accounts - at least 8 characters, random, upper and lower case, numbers, and symbols.
Also note that our hosting package includes daily backups, so, God forbid, if the worst does happen, we should not lose much data... knock on wood.
