First, Welcome to everyone! :) We are thrilled that so many have already come over and seem to be enjoying their stay! Woo hoo!
For a brand new forum that we're still figuring out how to manage, it's been busy, and it's still working! ~knock on wood~
A couple thoughts that I wanted to update you on until we get some real policies in place and posted. I've very much figuring these things out as I go!
Moderation and Rules
First, as far as "Moderating", I plan to "Moderate" as little as possible but feel I should say a couple things about it. I want to be as hands off as I can be, and I will expect all of you to not need a parent to tell you to behave and play nice. Most of you know each other, you should be friendly and respect each other, without me having to say so. I don't intend to get involved every time someone says something rude... If you think someone has been rude to you, say so! Say "knock it off! Don't talk to me that way". Set your own boundaries with people and fight your own battles as best you can. Then if you need help, or feel someone is harassing you, or you think someone has crossed a line that means they should be warned, suspended or banned, report it to me. Don't just hope I'll see it, I may not when things are busy.
When I do get involved, I will first ask people to behave as a friend. You guys all know me, I like to debate and discuss issues, and hope you will all still debate and argue with me and tell me when you disagree with me or think I'm full of it. Keep doing that! I will never edit or suspend people because they disagree with me, only because they can't behave civilly and are disrupting the board. And if I have to become the moderator, I'll suspend people but I will not clean up their bad behavior, if a long time member ever gets themselves booted, I want everyone else to know why.
The exception to that rule is cuss words. We have NOT currently set the software to bleep out bad language, but I expect you to refrain from using bad language. You know what cuss words are. Don't use them. If any of you see someone cussing, report it, we will edit those out and warn people.
So far, we've not even had to moderate any posts yet. We haven't even had any Abuses reported! Keep that up! :)
Forum Organization
I'll be giving this a lot of thought today... How the forum should be further organized into categories such as Health, Training, etc. There is a thread in the Tech section for giving me suggestions on this.
That's my not-so-well-organized thoughts so far today! :)
