So Berma does have attitude problems, I know that. Today I put on her new saddle pad, its a therapeutic one, and her saddle, girthed (er cinched) her up just fine, she didn't have a problem. So I walk her around a little bit, and she is walking weird. She hasnt had a saddle on her in a year, could this be why? I checked everything, pulled her legs forward to make sure everything is smooth, and good. I then trotted her around a little, and she trotted normally. After a little while she walked more normal. So I got on (MAN, is it wierd being in a saddle after riding bareback for so long, lol) and my sister walked her around. Then she trotted her in hand, while I was on her, and every time we went into a trot she would pin her ears, and try to turn to bite. I don't understand why she would so this. She occasionally does this when we trot her in hand without a saddle too. I dont know if its attitude or pain. I checked her back pressed her spine, and everything, she had no problem. I am going to get a video for you guys on saterday when I have the time. Any thoughts on why she is doing this?

Do you ride with a bareback pad and she does this or nothing at all? She could have a girth gall, that would make her uncomfortable while trotting.
If you don't find anything wrong (like the gall Palogal mentioned and the saddle fit/pressure you checked), it doesn't have to be a deal breaker. Give to time to adjust to wearing and moving under saddle. Probably does feel different than what she's gotten used to.

When she does it without the saddle, its with nothing at all on when I ask for more motion. She gets lazy sometimes and drags her feet. It may just be that she is no used to it, I'm going to ride her in it (actaul riding, not just in hand) when I don't have to work. And will report back.

Then it sounds like she's just back talking. Correct her firmly, if she continues after you correct her a few times I'd give the vet a call. She's not pregnant is she?

OKay, I will tell you if she calms a bit after she gets used to it. No, there is no way she could be pregnant.

DEFINTELY in pain! Have someone real experienced check the fit of the saddle, also some pads with the waffle weave irritate some horses, that could also be the problem. If she doesn't normally do that bareback she shouldn't with a saddle

Well, the thing is, she does sometimes do it without anyone on her bareback, trotting in hand that is, she has bitten at me when putting on a bareback pad, but dosn't bite when I girth her up. Its random times. I'm going to get some more saddle pictures, and videos of the saddle on her, and so you guys can see. I really hope she is not in pain!

Do you have any pictures of Berma tacked up with just the saddle and the saddle and saddle pad? That could help us determine if the saddle seems to be ill-fitted and causing the issue...I sure hope it's 'tude. ;)

It sounds like attitude, really. I don't care what the situation is, any horse that lays teeth on you or acts like she is going to deserves to be knocked out (exaggerating of course). Now, if you firmly correct her for a little while and she's still doing it, she may be in pain. However since there's no trigger to her action I think she'll stop if she learns she's going to get smacked.
