Last night I went to watch movies with a bunch of people at a friends house, she had just moved out of her parents house and into her own appartment. I didn't know which one was hers so everyone told me to wait in the parking lot and they would come down and get me.
So I park, get out, lean against my car waiting for everyone, and i noticed that this older man was standing by his car and giving me a creepy look, he was probably in his late 50's. He also has a cane and there is some kind of cast/wrap thing around his calf and ankle on one leg. After about a minute of this he says "youre drive a toyota? I just got this new toyota corrola and I cant figure out how to unlock the back seat doors, could you help me?" So I said "ummm i think you just press the unlock button on the drivers door twice or the button on your keys." He then says "I cant hear you so well, can you come a little closer?" By now I was getting a little freaked out, seriously, anyone can figure out how to unlock there own car door, all he was doing was standing there pointing at the car wiht his keys. I kept thinking about that serial killer (ted bundy i think?) that would put a fake cast on his leg and ask girls to help him put stuff in his car, and then kidnap them...:(
This whole time, its about 10 at night and there is noone else in the parking lot. Then he just kept asking me to come look at the car, I just kind of threw suggestions out and moved closer to my car door.
At this point all my friends came downstairs and I ran over to them. The freaky thing was, as I was walking up the stairs, I looked back at the guy, and he pressed the unlock button twice on the keys and opened the back door, closed it, got in the drivers seat, and drove off..... A little freaky? He probably was a perfectly nice guy, but does anyone else think that is majorly creepy besides me?

I dunno... I think it's probable he was not.
I'd report it to the police... non emergency line and everything, but let them know. You just never know if it fits into a pattern, and you may be able to describe him better than what they've got.

Wow, that doesn't sound right to me.....and then after your friends arrive and you start to leave with them, he can all of a sudden unlock the door.....I think he was up to no good. I'd do what WB suggested, call the police and let them know, give them a head's up, and give a description of him and his vehicle.

Sounds creepy to me.. I think he was up to something.. Better to be safe than sorry. Trust NO ONE no matter how innocent they look. Too bad you didn't get his license plate #. you could give that to the police too.

Sounds like it could have been a bad deal!!! Call the police and report it, they may be looking for this guy!

Trust your instincts. If he comes off as creepy, don't go near him. More often than not, your instincts will be right about situations such as those. You did good by staying away from him. :)

Call the cops and tell them what's going on. There are more gullible people in the world, and that sounds very creepy.

I agree with the others who say to report it. I'd call the non emergency number and just let them know.

That is majorly creepy. I'm not sure if I would call and report it or anything, but you deffinately did the right thing by not going near him.

Well...well done for staying your distance! There are dumb folks who'd just oblige, good on you for trusting your instincts. I woulda flung myself in the car and driven round the block, perhaps given my friend a call.

Not just kinda creepy that is Majorly creepy and in my opinion he was up to no good. I would give a tip to the non emergency line. Not really making a report but getting word to the police to get them alerted that there is an "odd" man around. If he doesn't do it again, then well he was have a blonde moment about his car....but if he tries it again the police will already have his trail and his m.o. Anyways glad you are safe.

There is a possibility he was a very bad person- I say report it with a description of him and his car. Think of how much sooner Bundy would have been caught with an eyewitness and description.

I never really thought about reporting it at the time, and now I dont' really remember enough about him to report anything. All i remember is he had a cane, a cast, and was probably in his late 50's, early 60's. His car didnt' had have a license plate, it was one of those dealership plate things, so I guess he was telling the truth about having a new car, but just the fact that he didn't have an actual license plate number kind of makes it even creepier.... My mom has always told me to never doubt my instincts, if someone gives you the creeps, even for what it seems like no reason, trust yourself. So that's pretty much what I was thinking the whole time, along with what I learned about ted bundy in forensics class...

That's enough to report. They'll have something to compare to if they've gotten other, similar reports. Maybe you noticed something they didn't.

You're a smart girl! I'm glad you weren't fooled by him.. creepy for sure!!
edit: yes, that's plenty to report! Enough to get the ball rolling, and the next people (hopefully there will be no more, of course) will have more details to add!

I would also report it, seriously, and right away too. he was trying to get you in the back seat of the car; and probably not to figure out the lock.

Jesus, I don't even get out of my car. That was just crazy you got out and waited. Never ever ever do I get out. I wait until my friend is in my sight, then I get out.

Glad you trusted your instincts. No, I don't think he was a nice guy at all. That is very very creepy.

Ted Bundy used to get himself all dressed up as though he was a gentleman with a pair of crutches and needing assistance to nab his victims. He then would hand the victim what he was trying to carry, let her get ahead of him to the car and use the crutches to knock her out so that he could get her into the car. Good that you reported it!

Seriously creepy! I agree with Kaitlyn... stay and wait in the car, not outside! But glad you trusted your instincts. Don't believe any of his story. Lots of criminals put dealer tags or 'tag applied for' tags on vehicles to avoid being identified. Very glad you reported it, you never know what this creep may do in the future. Others are not as bright as you!
