I just got off the phone with the vet. I am still numb from the results. Dreamer didn't make the study as we had hoped.
I don't know what we are going to do at this point.
I posted everything in the health section as I feel that is where is belongs. At this point I am crushed. :(
Long story short......she has alot of damage and the kids won't be able to ride her as we had intended. There are some treatments, but nothing is guaranteed.
I have to tell the kids tonight....that her future with us may not be as we had intended.

ohh what a shock. I though she was going to make the study. What happened? I'm so sorry she didn't make it, how horrible. On the bright side she did get some expensive tests done for free so you know what you are dealing with and can work with your vet on treatments. It saved you some money on those tests but it's such a shock that she didn't make the study after all of that and passing the tests to get in. Why do they get peoples hopes up like this and after all those tests and saying she is a very good candidate they don't take her! I'm so sorry that they let you down after all that and wanting her desperately to get in to the program.
I will go find the other thread to see what you will need to do for her now. I'm so sorry she didn't make it in to the program. Keep your chin up, everything will work it's self out in the end.

Uhhhhggg...my heart just fell when I read the thread title. I havn't seen the other thread yet but I'm so disapointed with you. I was just reading my new EQUUS last night and looking through the new medical findings section and they were talking about certain test horses and I thought of Dreamer. I'm so sorry, what a shock, but like IrisGreen said, some good came out of it. What do you think you'll do now?

I know I got a LOT of info and tests free. That is the good part. What are we going to do?? At this point I don't know. I'm still numb......
Once we get the reports and films in hand I will contact the Equine place in Tucson. I've heard they have a great equine medical facility and study. But for now....I just don't know.

So sorry to hear about Dreamer..... I always worry if something will happen to my guys legs - he already has issues, but it is scary none the less. Best wishes to Dreamer and your family...
I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that something else turns up that can help her.

I talked with my shoer who has seen alot of what Dreamer is going through. He is going to put shoes on her next week. 50/50 chance of her being able to be ridden again, but no guarantees.
The kids are really upset...of course.:( It's gonna be a long weekend...I am going to the mountains on Sunday to try to clear my head. I put in my LOA request Vick.

Im so sorry country girl. I was thinking though if we can raise funds for patriotsdreamz why cant we raise some money for your dreamer and maybe help you pay for half of her treatment or something? Just a thought...((HUGS))

Aww gee, thanks PaintedDreamer, but it's not necessary to raise funds for my end. I am working and although things will cost a bit more right now, I am still good in that way. It's just an emotional blow for me. I wasn't expecting this, and this horse was supposed to be for my kids. We will just have to wait and see what happens after my shoer sets her up and see how she responds. But thanks for the thoughtfulness. Just prayers and support from my friends are all that's needed at this point.
