So, the other day I was sitting on my couch and the preview for the time travelers wife came on. Not sure if any of you have seen these previews but it's about a girl who is visited by a "time traveler" through out her life. They get married and have a life together...in the preview he talks about how he's seen their unborn child already and she's beautiful. For some strange reason..all of the sudden a question hit me.

Hypathetically speaking...if time traveling were real...how do you go to/live in the future? Does it exist without us? I just don't get it!!!?!?!? I'm not talking about the process of getting there but I mean actually being there...how is there a future me if I'm sitting right here...does this make sense?

For example...back to the future makes sense to me because he goes back in time and has to get back to his present which is his past's future. BUT how would just jumping into the future work? Is my life taking place with out me??? :headscratch:

You mean I'm not the only one who sits around like that thinking like that. It must be a girl thing, because when I say that to my husband he just looks at me with a blank stare and says, " Duh Jen... why does that matter!?"

Pick me Pick me Pick me... I want to guess....

WEll, I would think that because we are constantly living... that when we got to the future, the now, would be your past. So you may be going forward, but you can look back. Does that make sense?? The problem is though that we don't know what the future will hold for us, and by going to it and seeing it does it change the past?

This is what I always think...

I wonder if my life would have changed at all if I would have taken a different way home from work today??? Theratheically it is possible.

lolol My boyfriend laughed when I asked him and he's been trying to brainstorm it with me but we aren't getting much.

I get what your saying but how does the now suddenly become our past??? If I'm not time traveling...say my SO is do I get sped up to the future? Do I know it?

I think your life very well could change if you take a different way home from work. Who is to say that you wont encounter something or someone that wasn't going to enter your life if you didn't take that way home from work? Right?

LOL! This reminds me of a question SM likes to ask (not sure if he made it up or heard it somewhere).. it goes something like, "if you're driving through space at the speed of light, then what happens when you turn your lights on?"

They come on.

But enough about the speed of light. What about the speed of dark?

I always think more about how cool it would be to go back in timel like 150 years! It would be so amazing to know what the future would be. You could certainly make a fortune!

lol I'd love to just go back in time to experience it all. I'm not gonna lie...I'd probably be crying within 10 minutes wanting to come back to now..aka the future...but I'd still like to see it! hahah

Oh LOL my boyfriend..who just recently got into doing "mods" on his car told me that he found the next thing he wants for his car...he's got the plans but it's going to cost a bit...So I'm obviously not very thrilled to say the least and ask him "what now...???" He puts this huge grin on his face and says..."A Flux Capacitor" darn jerk! lolol

if you want to watch a great time travel movie...Primer

I LOVE this movie. It was done on a budget of about $7,000..I have watched it several times (Catch it on our Sundance Movie Channel a lot and I've got it on NetFlix)

I figure out something new from it each time...it's insane. I love it...but it can make your head spin.

Cool! Thanks! I'll have to look it up. Is it going to give me my answers?? Lol :)

I'm looking forward to seeing that movie.

I think it's entirely possible. It's just a matter of time before we figure out how to do it (if we haven't already).

There are also parallel universes that scientists are studying. Right here and now. THAT would be very cool. The person you are right now is entirely the opposite or very different in the parallel universe.

Parallel universe? Whoa, never even heard of that concept! It is crazy how much can actually be done that hasn't been exposed to the public

I've heard about the parallel universe stuff but not the concept that you are completely opposite in them???

Ahhhhh, quantum physics makes my head hurt!!!! But anyway, yeah, it's crazy to think that at each crossroad in your life a new parallel is created. When you start thinking about it the possible versions of you are endless. What would have happened if you had done better or worse in school? What if you had been a cheerleader in stead of a band geek? What if you had gone to a different college or dated a different guy. What if you hadn't eaten all those cinamon rolls at Christmas two years ago and gotten fat, lol? And those are just your own decisions...think about all the decisions others make that effect you...

Exactly what Vegas said.

They are doing some pretty wicked research on the whole idea of parallel universes and how some barely touch up on the edges of our current reality/existence and how some people that can see what they call 'shadows' are actually others in a parallel existence that is overlapping for whatever reason.

Sounds all Star Trekky but I think it's entirely possible. Quantum Physics make the impossible possible.
