I know it's probably staring me right in the face but could someone (Cloedoll perhaps:D) give me a play by play on how to post a pix with the thread? I'm sure it's as easy as pie but with my computer skills, I need to be spoon fed.:(

Great question and we should have a nice, easy to follow set of instructions posted here.

I'm trying to solve about three problems at the moment, so I'll second your notion that maybe cloe could write something for us? I've been taking advantage of her a lot because she "gets" this stuff and has been soooo helpful all over the forum.

If she hasn't seen this soon I'll come back and write something out.

I created a public album in my profile page that I've uploaded a few photos to to post. That does work pretty easy. I've seen that others are just using a direct upload that posts thumbnails. Honestly, I'm still learning a lot about what all these buttons do myself, so there are some features I haven't even had time to investigate!

There are a few ways to do this, but I personally like to use the "Insert Image," button. It just makes life easier in my opinion. :D The Insert Image button is in the toolbar whenever you are typing a message, it looks like this: http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/images/styles/beige/editor/insertimage.gif You just click it, then a small window will pop up that should look like this:

http://i33.tinypic.com/2ibizb4.jpg

You then insert your image's URL, click OK and tah-dah! :p

If you still can't figure it out, just post, I can try my best to help. (:

Is there no way to upload them to this site? I* can't get to photobucket or any other image hosting sites from work, so I can't post pics if I'm at work if that's the only way.... (I know, I should work, but....the forum is NEW!)

How I post a picture. ( Method # 2. )

1) Get a photobucket account- upload picts.

2) copy and paste the link with IMG code ...IMG link IMG - note IMG must be in brackets.
into your reply box. 2b change caps to small maybe- i do [img] link [img]

3) hit preview post optional.

4) hit submit reply.

5) example

[IMG]http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee150/mtnmollie/P1010038.jpg

change beginning and end img to small

and hit submit reply.

I post photslinks (IMG code from photobucket) in the reply box not the attachment.

Yes - there is! :) You can create photo albums at your User Control Panel (User CP) and upload pictures there to post full size.

You can also do a quick upload of any file and attach it to a post as a thumbnail.... that option is below the reply box (Full post reply, not the quick reply) Look for "Manage Attachments"

I HOPE to add some features to the software that will make this easier and better... like HGS forum does, if you're familiar with that. But for now, those two methods work.

Ooooh, thank you! I was posting them from HGS since I can get those pics...I don't think I would have found where to upload here without your direction

I love that feature how HGS has new photos scroll across the screen so you can see what's being talked about, and I like how there is an upload and insert link right in the reply screen.... but that add-on has a cost and we're looking at what the options are.

I've been using Photobucket still, but you can use the forum. When you download your pics into an album here it'll have a link under the picture, then you do what Caitlin said and paste the link into that little box and it should appear on your post.

So we can make photo albums and we don't have to resize the pictures??

It automatically re-sized all the pictures I uploaded, so I think that would be a yes! :D

I think the Photo Albums resize them to 600 px or something, which is a good size to post.

The software will even resize Avatars and signatures to the limit size if you upload them here, which is nice.

OK--I uploaded my pictures to an album here. I hit the
http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/images/styles/beige/editor/insertimage.gif
and pasted my url in when prompted and still get the red X:mad: What am I doing wrong??????
http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/picture.php?pictureid=289&albumid=41&dl=1223332996&thumb=1 (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/album.php?albumid=41&pictureid=289)

I don't know.

Go ahead and post it, even if it has a red x, I might be able to tell what's wrong by looking at the picture properties or something else in the coding.

BUT, there's another way too, besides the mountain button. If you uploaded it to an album here, if you look under the picture in your album, they give you the [IMG] code. Just select and copy that, then paste it.

OMG--I did it. Thank you WB! I did it the last way you said without hitting the mountain. It couldn't be easier! OK--now I'm off to post pictures of my drafts!

So to just post a pic in a thread do you still have to resize it on say photobucket?

WashingtonBay
10-06-2008, 06:13 PM
No, you shouldn't have to - when you upload it here it will resize it to a max of 600 px. If you want it to post BIGGER than that, then you'd want to put it on photobucket.

Oh so even in a thread you don't have to resize them?? But then how do you get them on there?

WashingtonBay
10-06-2008, 07:01 PM
Basically what we're saying is you can upload any size picture to the album, and the album will size it down if it's too big. You don't have to do that before you can even upload it, like it was with the kb size limitations at h.com.

MyHorseBiggs
10-06-2008, 07:05 PM
Oh got it!

But what about in threads how do you get the pictures on there? Do you have to download/upload them to photobucket then do the link ???

WashingtonBay
10-06-2008, 07:18 PM
If it's in the album here, go to the album, the code will appear below the picture.

or, with any picture, you can right click, choose properties, copy the URL and paste it between the img tags.
