This may or may not be considered wise by morning, we'll see. Let's try to keep it positive!
What's going on around the internet?... Horse forums in particular probably, that makes you go...
Stuff I know is going on:
f*gly's comments being taken away... :hysterical:
Some kind of inter forum wars and drama going on at both HGS and Horsetopia, with different players I think, that I don't understand, because no one there is allowed to speak of it...
I have no such rules here, SPILL IT! I just want to know what's going on... provided it's interesting!
What threads are getting all the hits elsewhere in your travels? What's going on around the webs tonight (and ongoing) that people think is worthy of popcorn?

On F*gly, I guess a vocal critic there got them on violation of blogspot rules. I think this gal Living Beyond The Dream (http://livingbeyondthebream.blogspot.com/) is the one who claims responsibility for it. The posse was going after people and especially little kids.... on the internet, and in person. They got out of hand in a way I do not like (as I think you guys know about me) Going after little kids on youtube and going so far as trying to figure out where people lived. "Dena" there was, I think originally someone who was picked on by f*gly and had a grudge that was... personal.
Now come on you guys... I posted this so you guys would fill me in! We can't have all popcorn eaters and no reporters with news!

4) Moving on, we have a starved Arabian with hind leg weakness. First of all, they rig up this deal to keep his pastern from buckling over...with a bungee cord with hooks on both ends attached to a brace above the hock and the front of his shoe (Did you guys see this? Have you ever seen anything like that?) My first thought was, OMG, he is going to go down at night and get tangled in that shit. Well, I must be psychic because the next scene, he's all banged up and bloody 'cause he went down and got cast overnight and nobody found him until morning. I don't know, maybe a vet really would prescribe a rig like that (if you're a vet and you have, tell me about it), but even if they did, wouldn't you put that horse on a foal cam and turn up the sound so you knew if he went down? Anyway, after that they put him in a sling and, tough old shit that he is, he pulls through.

That's what I understand... and not just in public forums and youtube comments, which was bad enough... like tracking them down. She writes a scathing bash of people, often people (kids) doing dumb stuff on youtube, turns molehills into mountains, usually greatly exaggerating the imminent threat, and then turns the posse loose to do what they do. Find their names and addresses, harass them, try to get animal control or CPS to go out there and 'do something'. Since that activity was usually in the comments... she never really 'tells' them to do this in the original posts, blogspot disabled her comments.
From what I understand, somebody went to this Dena's place, she says. She runs a rescue that had something get reported on f*gly.
That's what I gathered in the last week or so poking around. ;)

Hmm...the other thread starts off as a "what discipline should my horse be in" and evolves into classical dressage goats and show chickens in the western pleasure ring...has a few know it alls in there...a couple that know what they are talking about and a couple that have no clue...add in a few personal spats...a picture of a horse walking into a house(I thought it was neat actually) and a few other things and it makes for a good reading!

Yeah didn't she have an older Arabian mare that she was told wasn't a maiden and wanted to breed her so she would have a part of her after she would pass. Then she found out she was actually a maiden and ended up loosing the foal?! I think I have some of the facts straight...that was a while ago and my memory isn't that good. I am not a member but I lerk and I can tell you, some people when in the comfort of the internet are not who they truelly are in person. They create fake IDs so people will like them and so they can pretend to live a life that is not thier's.

I know that I am an infrequent poster here but I thought you all would like to know where Fugs is. Many of you know we had a falling out but the REAL reason is that she had an affair with my husband. Well guess what? She has not posted a blog today because she left WA DC and stopped in Atlanta to visit my husband again. She is there for some SEX! As you can tell my relationship with him is over. But I also thought I would let you know that she is a lying thieving WHORE! I have fully nude photos of her that she sent him in December if any of you are interested. Her phone number is _____________ if you all would like to call her and tell her what you all think of a whore!
She also used to steal from me when we were friends and sell the stuff on Craiglist to support herself. If any of you would like to email me my email address is _________________

I never know any "dirt" since we got this puppy I only have time to check here and Facebook. She is so much work, my house looks like a bomb went off in it!
I found out some very sad news though, one of the horses at the stable got out and got hit with a car and was killed. My heart is crushed, she's the first horse my husband ever rode, she was so sweet and gentle. Then to add more sadness they bought a horse at an auction and it was expecting a foal and the foal died during birth so it's just been a very sad night for me since I found out and a very very sad day for my best friend since it happened early this a.m.. She was such a great horse, you could put anyone on her and know they'd be OK. I can't believe she's gone. I feel bad about the foal but way worse about the mare, she was in a different pasture being babied because she had hurt her leg and somehow she got out of the fence and into the road. No matter how safe you try to keep them things happen and it's so sad.

Thanks WB my friend is really shook up, she tries to be strong but she's broken hearted, she loved that horse, she has lots and lots of horses [up to 80 at times but I think they are down around 50 or 60 now, that's counting mini horses and boarders horses] but no matter how many she has she loves them all, they are all special. This one was super special. She was afraid to tell me since she knows how I get and how much I loved that horse. I tried real hard not to cry when she told me but I've been crying since we hung up. She was such a good horse and it makes me mad that she probably didn't have to die, the driver was probably going way too fast since it was on a straight away he should have seen her. The cops were there I don't know if they'll ticket him for speeding or not. She said they acted mad they were called out but it's good there was a report in case he tries to sue them or something. They've had some bad luck with foals too, not sure why. It's just been very sad. I hope there is some fun gossip that comes up to make me laugh!

You're just too closed minded and stupid or it would work for you cheval. BTW, the reason horses dance around on cross-ties is.....
Saddling is very intimate to the horse, so tying them to tack up is like tying your sweetie to a tree to give him a kiss. You should NEVER tie your horse to saddle.

What is the evidence that shame in the show ring is her blog?
Because in her email to me, anyway, she talked about the shame blog owner in the third person, not like it was her:
[Deleted Essay] - Page 31 - Baywind Farm Horse Forum (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8779&highlight=deleted+essay&page=31)
Locking it isn't going to solve the problem!
I'm sending the owner of the Shame in the Horse Show Ring blog over so she can kipe pictures and quotes and use them in her blog. Your members have plenty of stuff they won't mind being stolen, because after all, it's on the internet.
Of course the Fugly Horse of the Day gal could do a lot with the forum too, she'll get an email later.
Now I don't condone stealing other people's work, but since your group has such a free spirited attidude about it I'm sure they won't mind Jean using their photos and such on her blog. She's a wicked bitch, but she sure knows how to point out riding and conformational flaws.
Some times it's nice to have friends in low places.

I became a member there awhile ago. There's actually many members there who are familiar. But they did have an annoying setting on their forum that meant all posts by new members go into some moderator queue and a few of mine didn't get seen for days. It was frustrating because I signed up there to get and share info with another member there who had a renal failure case. New members are only going to stick around so long if their posts don't show up.
If they've disabled new membership completely now, then yeah, that's really dumb.
I think having manual approval of new members is also really dumb.
There are better ways to filter out spammers than that. It's rare any actually make it through here.

I don't know anything about Horsedopia - is that some sort of anti - Horsetopia site? That might prove to be an interesting read.
Why disable membership? Because of the Moderator issues? You can still read the forum at least.

This is what happens when I'm avoiding homework.... I read stuff like this. CRAZY...
I don't have any dish. But I loved Chevel's comment about the "poopy head"
And I hadn't read the copyright thread until today. And what I took from it was how bad I felt for lisa... she has such a tender heart. It must have been hard for her to watch that go down.
So do we get the dish about what was said about baywind on that other forum????

It really reminds me of what happened on horse.com - except there it was supposedly all technical problems, not on purpose. Still had the same effect. First all the current members got frustrated due to the issues - pms not working, posting not working, etc. Then no new members could join. The board died. Its been revamped and works, but its still pretty dead in the water as far as bb go.
Seems HT is doing the same damn thing - except on purpose. You are right OMC - internet suicide.

Don't know about pms - but when the one board was pretty well broke, they kept posting saying to go to baywind and they kept getting taken down. About the only thing the horse.com moderators were being active with. It was a mess. http://s4.images.proboards.com/sad.gif I actually really liked baywind initially...

Are administrators/moderators really expected to not mingle with the members of their own forum? What would be the point of owning a forum if you're expected to keep your opinions/advice to yourself when it comes to the common issues any other member could have a say in? Where's the fun?
As for the large amount of kids(which I'm apart of) on this forum.. I have seen so much worse. At least us kids don't have huge drama fests and when we ask for advice, for the most part we actually heed it and don't throw hissy fits when we hear something we don't want to hear. ;)

That's stupid. WB barely has to step in and when she does it's because it was flat out necessary. This is the LEAST moderated board I have ever been on. And I think it works way better than the ones that are over-moderated. I wrote a post over on horseforum.com about being pissed off and they censored the word 'pissed' and put in 'ticked'. I contacted them and they said it was because of the younger members.
Bizarre.

FSA if you remember some of the moderator issues over at h.com then that will answer your question. The Conformation section.
The kids here are way better than any other forum I've seen. Granted many of the members of h.com didn't like mingling with them and branched off to start adult forums and that was fine too. But the stuff that goes on here very often relates to the adults as well.

Out of all the forums I have visited/been involved with, when it comes to moderation it seems that the members here are much happier with this type of moderation situation then others where people tend to feel superior with their power and change/delete things just because they can. Or the mess horse.com was in which the moderators were never there to fix problems

True for HGS as it is like Horsetopia and full of butterflies and rainbows.
Only partialy true for horseforum for at least you can tell it like it is. Not so here, HGS or HT where you would (depending on the forum) get banned, negative repped or insulted.

I've seen plenty of people told to back off on horseforum. You are somewhat correct about here - but it's been more of the adults that you have to seem to hold back giving straight-forward advice than any of the kids here.

You think we're butterflies and rainbows, or you'll be banned, really? I am a bit curious about this perception, Spyder. I have banned exactly one couple (for behavior) from this forum since it began, and I think given only one short suspension that I didn't even stick with. And it was not because they were harshor unpopular in their opinions... It was because their mere presence here was a disruption. I have deleted no posts, and hardly ever edited any for content. It's my stated policy that I won't act unless it's a pretty big deal that demands it.
I am not mad you feel this way, I'm just curious to know where it comes from. I think everyone can 'tell it like it is', and I don't think most are afraid to. You may be argued with, and if you're unkind to someone others may defend them, many people here are good friends, but I generally encourage people to fight their own battles and report to me only egregious acts and spammers.
If people are 'nice' here, it's not because I demand it. It's just a nice group.

FWIW, on HGS, while I do think I got one negative rep because I ticked off the OP with my opinion, most of the positive reps I've gotten were times where I did take an opposing or controversial point of view. People may be afraid to do that, but in fact, that's what often earns points, if it's argued well.

Hum... Interesting. I think it was a true statement made on the other board. Not bad. And I love that we can talk about it without getting upset.
Seriously... I wonder what other horse forums thinks of us talking about them? Do they think of it as a negative or positive. Although this thread is suppose to be about dirt. And no one likes there dirty laundry hung out for all to see. It has been an interesting concept.
WB, I may not have been a member until recently but I have known most of you for a few years now, and have done some lingering (couldn't think of the right word) here since the forum began. Not me. Horses I've seen lay down while working have been sick or really really tired.
I won't say there aren't any that figure it out as a sympathy ploy to get out of work, Endospink featured one once in a video... but it would NOT have been my first thought.
And I don't want to get all Parelli on people, but if a horse is willing to lie to get out of work... maybe you're not doing your job in making work fun... or at least, not without some reward.

No time to read the article. But I know a MALOR IDEAT!!! Who had once advised me to do that. " Come on Jen, that horse is walking all over you and just wants to get out of its work. Just give it a couple of good kicks in the ribs. It will just get their attention. Their big animals." And I'm not talking about when I was riding the horse either. I mean when it was down. The guy was an ideat. He thought if he went to a couple of Clintin Anderson shows he was then the horse whisper. CRAZY. So yes it happens.

Once i had just gotten off Quest and didn't even get the halter off and he just plopped down and laid flat out with his head on the dirt. Scared me to death, i thought for sure my horse dying. I believe now that it may have been some form of tying up, poor guy. After about five minutes he got right up and seemed fine. I wouldn't trust many people to tell the difference though between an attitude or a problem. For horses with an attitude someone on that thread suggested waiting until they get up then work them harder. I don't think that would work, then they'll just lay down longer next time since as soon as they were stood up that they had to work. It would kind of be like disciplining a horse that you finally got a halter on in the pasture after chasing them around for a bit; they finally allowed you to catch them, then they got disciplined for being caught. I think the best thing is to just learn the signs and keep there feet moving- don't let them lay down in the first place
cheval
08-04-2009, 07:50 PM
The horses I've seen do it, it was pretty obvious it was attitude. They didn't like what was being asked of them and laid right down. They weren't in distress of any sort. I saw people either try and pull them up or click at them to get them up or they'd just walk off and when the horse got up they acted like the horse didn't even lay down.
