Public Bathroom Design Rant!

As you all know, I had to go to the city this week and that always makes me tense.:rolleyes: I have to vent a little.

Tell me.... who decided the toilet paper dispenser in public bathrooms should be set down below our knees so we have to reach way down under it to get the paper out?

Particularly in handicapped stalls! I tell you, you have to be Gumby to reach the paper these days in some of these bathrooms, and I don't know how someone with limited mobility could even do it. It was not always this way, the paper used to be high enough on the wall that you could easily reach over and get it when you're sitting there. But I've run across this at so many bathrooms I think it must be some kind of new rule.

Don't even get me started at the dispensers that only let you have two squares per pull. :mad:

I can't stand public bathrooms, too germy for me. :p The last time I was in one, though, I did notice that about the toilet paper dispenser! Annoying much?! I have never seen a dispenser that only lets you have two squares...that's odd!

LOL. I guess I haven't ever looked at it. But I do know about the two square thing. I'm just not a big fan of public restrooms in general.

Unless they provide toliet seat covers, it should be illegal for them to only let you have two squares at a time. I'm on your team... let's make them pay (somehow)! :D

Just to let you know the men's rooms are not any better. I just took a trip that was 20 hours each way and lots of stopping at truck stops and gas stations. Worst bathrooms in the world can be found there. I don't even want to mention what they are like in the early am of a weekend.

Ever since I have gone on back country hiking and camping trips I have learned to carry baby wipes. They come in handy at the "germy" restrooms too!

The two sqaures thing gets me too!!! They are making them now so that you really have to struggle just to get toilet paper to wipe your hinney!! It's so ridicualous! Even port-o-potties are better than the public restrooms!!

Ok, here is an idea for us all. Take our own butt protectors, and carry toilet paper in the rig always. I dont particularly like to use a public toilet, but have to at times. I keep we wipes in my purse too. Ewwww, just ewwwww. Full hand wash, get paper towel before washing and use it to open the door with.

How about when the latch doesn't line up on the door, and it's not even close, like it never did. Did they not notice this when they put it together?

Those are the ones where the doors are about two inches too far away to hold them closed.

At Reinhardt our restroom lights are on timers (that only go to 15 minutes). Which means that if you don't pay attention when you go in and make sure you have enough time on the timer, then you could be in the dark very shortly. What sprouts-for-brains thought up THAT one?

public restrooms tend to scared me. i try to avoid them whenever i can. haha i did notice the paper dispensers being way low and hard to reach, also the whole 2 papers at a time thing drives me nuts! haha i don't understnad why they would do that to us :[

I HATE that! Its so annoying when you are pulling at it a bunch of times just to get enough, grrr...:mad:
