So my bf does photography and lately he has been looking into some form of inverter or portable power supply for outdoor shoots and such were there are no outlets or other power available. I'm thinking maybe as a Christmas gift, I'll get him one. And I know there are some professional photographers out here, or people with more knowledge than I have about power inverters and such, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend to run lighting for a reasonable amount of time. I know they get a bit pricey, but its something I'm looking into because he's one of those guys who has everything else he wants/needs and is hard to shop for (aka a pain in the butt lol) :innocent: but I didn't say that, of course.

Sorry I don't shoot with studio lights ever. I just use auxiliary flash units and I don't do that very often, being an event photographer! Hope you find something. A lot of people recommend the Vagabond II system but I don't know if that's big enough for what he wants to do. It runs about 300 dollars and doesn't work with modeling lamps. (strobes only I think). And I wish I had everything I wanted already!! Photography certainly adds a long list of good gifts to someone's list!

Hmm, I'll have to check into that one, I think I've heard the name before. And yeah, it definitely adds a lot to the list of things to buy him, lol I just wish I knew a bit more about it in general so I knew what I was doing when I went to look for stuff. I'll definitely check into the Vagabond II system though, thanks for the info.

I know nothing about photography but was going to mention Equine Woman as a helpful source... I see she is here already though!
