:) I just had to share :) I had a great time at my first English lesson. I rode a school horse. He was a sweetheart. His name is Shade. It was my first time ever trying to post. It sure felt good when you get it right. I need lots of practice but had a great time. Weather permitting the trainer wants me to bring Prize on Tuesday for my 2nd lesson. :cowboy: I will attach a couple pictures. I had no reins the whole lesson. We pretty much worked on my posting the whole hour lesson.

Lunge lessons are the best! If you want to really learn how to ride thats how you should do it lol. Posting was so hard for me at first too, but once you get it you'll have it for life. Do you have a grab strap that your holding?

Posting for an hour - Cor blimey, I'm not jealous :P then again, you'll be doing it properly in no time if that's the case!
Glad you're finding it so fun ^_^

Congratulations! It's nice to have a school horse when you need to concentrate on riding, isn't it? When I first got Arrow, I couldn't remember how to canter in saddle to save my life. I took 2 lessons on a school horse at a local place, and bingo, muscle memory kicked in, and I've been fine since!

Yeah once you get the hang of posting it's really easy. It didn't take me that long. :) Glad you had fun! Post more pictures next time! :)

An hour....I bet your legs are like jello!! But, good for you! I would like to start lessons again, someday.
A good school horse will teach you a lot, and after awhile it will be good to ride your own horse so you can address any issues that may come up with your horse.....sounds fun!

Jeez an hour that would be a killer. But lunge lessons are awesome for when you just start, its really nice to not have to focus on direction or speed or anything but just on how to use your legs. I did a couple lunge lessons and a couple round pen lessons before I actually started riding in the arena.
Stick with it, you'll get it down pat in no time. Then the fun comes when you have to strengthen up those legs with no stirrups posting and two-point;)

:) I was very surprised that my legs weren't real sore the next day. Maybe with me riding bareback here a good bit lately helped me out.
EnglishGuy NO stirrups posting and two point  I don't have any idea what two point is ?
Haffie no grab strap just resting on front of saddle pommel. It was not an English saddle but a western. She also wants me to put Prize in a western saddle till I have more know how then switch to the english saddle. She teaches all her students that way.
I am suppose to have a lesson tomorrow but they are calling for rain and snow spit tonight  So it might be moved to another day. She had wanted me to bring Prize this time. She wants to lunge him and get a feel for him to see if he will have the temperament for me to take my lessons on from now on. If not I will be using the school horse for awhile.

Two-point is the jumping position.
I hope you can bring Prize for your next lesson, that would be great!

 Posting for an hour! Your legs are going to hurt in the morning. When I first started riding english that's how I started too. It didn't take me too long to figure out how to post. You just have to relax and let the horse carry you. :)
