Ok now this is for my mom. She's going to college to become a vet tech right now and needs me to do her Powerpoints for her. So anyway her original idea was to create a Powerpoint that contained videos of horses and riders showing the gaits and things like that. It's supposed to be a demonstrative speech for Speech class and she couldn't really think of anything.
So the question is: how do you put videos on a Powerpoint?
I figured out how to put video clips on it, but when I go to open up the videos that I already have on my computer they don't show up. I have Quickplayer on my computer. Any help? Oh and if I can't just get them off the computer is there any way I could upload them to photobucket and then put them on the Powerpoint?

-Save the video to a file folder on your computer.
-In slide sorter view, or normal view, go to the slide where you want to place the video.
-Insert, Text Box, name your video (e.g. Tapeworm Life Cycle)
-With your cursor on the name of your video (e.g. Tapework Life Cycle), right click
-Hyperlink, browse to find your video, "OK"
When you go back to "View, "Slide Show" and hit the space bar to advance through the slides, your video will be ready to click on and play when you get to it.
Let me know if you have any problems or browser issues.

Important note: If your mom burns her presentation to a DVD or something to take to school, she must add all of the videos as well. The videos are not embedded into the PowerPoint, they are linked to it. If you move the presentation, you also have to move the videos along with it.

Cool thanks JackieB. She would have to save the presentation to a Flashdrive though, so wouldn't I have to redo all the hyperlinks after she does that? And if my videos run on Quickplayer would the computer she's using have to have Quickplayer too or would the video just run on whatever that computer has?
Is there any other way to do it? If there isn't then at least I know I can do it at least.

To make it easiest for your mom, put the PowerPoint presentation and all of the videos in the same folder. Then, all she has to do is copy that one folder to the flash drive and she'll be set. The PowerPoint will be looking for the videos in that same folder, so no links will be broken.
Even though you are running the videos in the Quicktime player, they should open OK in whatever player(s) are on the computer she is using as long as they can support the file format. For example, a Quicktime video with the extension .mov won't run in a Windows Movie Player, so the computer would need to have a player that supports a Quicktime movie file such as the Quicktime player or RealPlayer.
Important note. If she's playing big videos (say 20mb or so) from her flash drive, she may have trouble with the video uploading too slowly to play smoothly. It's transferring from the flash drive to the computer as it's playing, right? So she clicks on a video and it get's stuck, sound and video don't always match, etc. The way to address this is to transfer the folder from the flash drive to the desktop of the computer she is using for her presentation, give the presentation, and then delete it off that computer at the end. That way, the videos are already on that computer and transfer at full speed.
And for any presentation, it's always best to arrive an hour early and test everything out (computer, projector, sound, lights, etc.). Most problems can be resolved without too much trouble, but if they occur during the presentation, it's nearly impossible to think straight. :)

Regarding other ways, you can try the simple method that PowerPoint recommends, which is
Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movie from File, and just hit Enter after browsing for your movie file. But this hasn't proven to be as reliable to me over the years. Perhaps I just didn't know how to do it right, but I decided that hyperlinking the videos was a better way to go.

wow, my mom is starting college next month to be a vet tech. i am so proud of her as i bet you are proud of your mom.
but back to your post, if you have powerpoint for windows on your computer, mosts give step-by-step. and as JackieB said save EVERYTHING in one folder and test it before hand on the schools equipment, sometimes somethings dont work. if possible test it the day before so she and you have time to fix any problems.
