J is going this morning to get me a trailer! Not my wonderful dream trailer, just a little old 2 horse, but it will haul Koda to Oregon after a little work. And the best part... Only $300! I'll have to sell my extra hay and put the money back into our moving fund but that's okay. I'm really happy to have the issue of how to move Koda taken care of. It does need work but J figures $200 tops. It has new wiring, the wheel berrings need repacked but J can do that. Now for pictures:

Front - Lady said the tires are good but we will see. Needs plexiglass in the window, steel for the tie openings, and I can't tell if there is a door to the tack area in front or not...

Back - I don't like the wood doors so we are going to put steel mesh inside it. Cheaper right now then solid steel but Koda can't freak out and put his foot through it. Gonna leave the wood on so he can't see the hwy rolling behind him and freak.

Inside - The moldy hay is going! There is no divider which we will need. Planning on putting Koda on one side and stacking most of the hay we are taking on the other and tarping it off so Koda can't eat it and pull it down. We will of course tie it up for the trip too. Lady said the floor is good but there again we will see.

It's great that you got a trailer! I never had one of my own, so I had to rely on others or try to find a ride, and that was sometimes tough to do when people got busy.

Yep! I've had to depend on people to haul Koda since I bought him so this will be nice. And later I can sell it and upgrade. It's supposed to me a 2 horse but it looks real narrow to me so when I get a second horse I will want something else.

Boy for that long a trip, I'd try to give him the whole thing... you can always buy more hay... but good luck fixing it up and making it fit everything you need. :) Most important! The horse!

Is the roof strong enough for a roof rack? You could give him the whole inside and stack a few bales on the top. Or if you're using a u-haul, then put some hay in that.

Don't know about the roof but we are gonna have 2 of the largest U-hauls to get us packed up. May be able to fit some in the second one but I just don't know. Want to see Koda in the trailer first, see how much room there is. Plus we will be loading some into the back of my parents truck. I want to take as much hay as I can so I am sure he will be fed till we can afford to get more.

J just picked up the trailer and says we scored! The hitch is new, the floor is new, the door is new, the axels are good, wheel bearings need greased (knew that), the tires are okay but 2will need replaced and a spare bought before a long haul. We need plexiglass for the front windows and a door for the tack area. Oh and the back door doesn't open like doors but goes down for a ramp so the wood has to stay for traction but I would like to weld the steel mesh outside it so he still can't put his foot through. I need to get mats for the floor or was wondering about the roll on bed liner stuff. Do you think that would work instead to protect the floor, give traction, and not need to be replaced down the road?

I'll take better pics then the ad ones tonight.

J took the trailer over and had M load up Koda, plenty of room! Wish they had sent the poor woman at work a pic of her horse and trailer... hahaha! I'll see it soon enough. Gonna take Koda on a couple of drives so he is familar with the trailer before the long haul.
