I bought my last registered 5 yr old Quarter horse for $500.00 and he turned out to be an awesome horse. Now he did need some weight when I got him and had rain rot. I know around here there are nice horse to be had for cheap. I would call and go take a lookie if its close. You never know. :)

I think the second one sounds really nice. The first one only said broke to ride. Who knows what that means so maybe that's why it's so cheap?

Why not so cheap? I'd go see any horse I was interested in, regardless of how cheap. Just MO>

I love the bay Arabian (of course I am partial to those Arabians!) :)
Once in a while you can really find a great horse for cheap, sometimes the owner just has to sell a nice horse for whatever reasons (like nowadays so many people are losing their jobs). Good luck and I hope you guys find one.

Like the 2nd one.
My opinion on less expensive horses is, and it is just my opinion, they may have some issues that some people may not want to deal with. Id go for the one that costs a bit more and work though any minor issues it may have, IF it has any.
Ive bought 500 dollar horses, 700 dollar horses and 1500 dollar horses, each one with issues, but the lower in price I paid, the worse the issues. A 500 dollar one was dangerous, the 700 dollar one was extreamly high strung, the 1500 dollar one, workable and she is now a great mare(Mystic)
I paid less for my sons pony, she was a nut, saddle scared, whip scared, but that was due to her being a cart pony, man that girl could goooo......still a low price so you get what you pay for.
Its just my opinion.
My dad paid big money for our horses when we were young. They were broke and very rideable without issues. Well, except the stud...he was a kids horse, wasnt to happy with adults...lol
Today, I would pay for a horse with little to no issues.....yesterday it didnt matter.
So I think it really depends on what a person is looking for, and being picky should not matter.

yes sometime you get what you pay for. The saying is " the cheap comes out expensive" . I have 1500.00 that I want to spend. I am willing to take lessons with my new horse. If I dont find one then I will wait till next year.

Just looked at the second one, and wow! Now THAT is a horse *well* worth 1500 in my opinion, if she's as good as advertised. Cool!!

The second one is good looking too. I really think it doesn't hurt when they are easy on the eyes. :D

The two best horses I've purchased were the cheap ones. The people selling just wanted good homes for their horses and wouldn't have sold them to me if they hadn't been sure I was going to take good care of the horse. I wouldn't pass on checking a cheap one out, like always just go into it with your eyes wide open and do your vet checks etc.

With todays market I'm finding some really nice horses for dirt cheap prices and yes, even free!!!
I wouldn't go on price but go look at the horse and judge for yourself on him. Don't disregard him just because he is "CHEAP" Cheap can be good;)
With that said, I've watched this horse that sold for $8,000 back in the seventies at Tattersalls (highend auction). We almost won the bid on this horse that my trainer ended up buying and the horse flipped over and killed her son. So please don't judge on price, go with quality and the only way you will find that out is asking questions and seeing for yourself.
Oh, I also wanted to add that I bought a Reg. Saddlebred Stud horse for $175.00 that ended up being one of the best horses that I had. I broke him and regretfully sold him for $4000.00. (another story)

I have to agree with Gaited07. Don't judge a horse by the asking price. I have bought pricey horses in the past only to be very disappointed. One of the best quarter horses I have had the pleasure to own is the one I bought for $500.

He looks weird in that picture. I emailed to my friend and she said he looked like he had
a kind eye. The guy said he puts beginners on him. It is 2hrs away but worth the trip if it is the
right one for me.

That is too bad. If you did know him you could tell me about the horse. There is another one in chippewa falls and it is an appy.

I was trying to think if anyone I knew may know of the guy..... but it seems like most horse people I know are into Arabians. If it was an Arabian I may know about them, but I don't know many QH or Paint people here.
I LOVE the pinto Arabian mare in Fergus Falls!! Are you going to go take a look at her by any chance? She's beautiful. Oh heck, I just looked up where Fergus Falls was, it seems a bit far for you I think.
I still like this horse, heck if I was looking to buy a horse I'd be tempted to check him out....
altho I wonder what they mean by "needs good rider".... But a very decent price for a gaited horse that has trail experience.
