man, I had this all typed out, clicked on pics, sent, and its in la la land..lol

I am so tired of drilling today. Got one tarp left to do, and its not that cold and windy yet, so it can wait.
I got the heavy plastic backing on, that is permanent, and one tarp up, but bottom needs secured. There is timber, under the ground, around the run in, and the bottom of the tarp will be secured to that. Come summer, the tarp will roll up. I only did Mysts side with the tarp, but here are pics.
They each have an 18' x 10' area, the tarp is 11', and on the 18' side, so there is a 7' opening and the front opening, so pleanty of in/out space and wind block.
remember, the bottom is only temp in this pic.

Heh... I think when it got windy and that tarp started snapping in the wind my Arab horse would be OUT of there!

But they'd get used to that I suppose. :) Hope it holds up! Do you get a lot of high wind storms?

Yes we do get high wind storms, why I got the heavy duty one..lol. They arent cheap I tell ya.
It may blow a bit, but secure top, bottom and one side, so it'll hold. As far as the noise. These 2 are pretty stupid proof. Myst and I already did a huge noise check..lol...and I mean huge. She was good. Heck, she got treats, and I had to ask her out of there to take the pics..lol

I do a similar thing on my front porch for winter, to block the wind and rain when I go outside to smoke. The heavy duty ones can take quite a bit of wind if they're secured tight. It's a little redneck to tarp your porch, but it works! You'll probably see that when you come... it will add to your first impression of our place :D. You'll either see it as really tacky or really good tarpage...

Maybe we should have a 'show us your winter tarpage' thread :)

With points awarded for good tarp engineering, durability and creativity of course. :)

Myst likes it, she pooped in her area. She NEVER does that, so I know she i comfortable. I had the gate open today, between their areas, while I worked each horse, when it came feeding time, Myst chose the other side, so I closed her over there. City is happy on the side with the tarp. He dont care about much anyway...lol
Winds are pretty high, so I know they are liking the wind block they are getting from it now, its gonna be a cold one tonight.

The place I board at doesn't have the shelters up yet (they're putting up new shelters, so there are none right now...), and I am getting worried because our weather is getting so nasty......

Is this a brand new run-in shelter or just winterizing it?
Looks nice and big and do your horses get to meander through all those nice trees??!!??
I wish I had some big trees on our property ... I plan on planting some come spring.
