I love my Wrangler, it is what I've always wanted but it just isn't getting the job done anymore. We can cram both dogs in the back seat but we have to use a shoe horn. When the kids are here we have to take 2 cars if we take the dogs with us. When the kids are here we have to pack the groceries around/on them when we go to the store and even though they really didn't complain I know it wasn't fun for them. And then most importantly it can not handle my new horse trailer. It's okay at low speed and empty but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting a tailer to haul Koda. So after a lot of thought I am making the grown up decision and selling my Wrangler.

I am going to look at this Durango tomorrow after I visit Koda. If I like it it would be a straight across trade and I want a warranty too. They will sell my Wrangler for about $2000-2500 more then they are selling the Durango for.

Durango is a good truck that little 5 liter v-8 rocks, just gotta be careful try and get a 4:10 rear end or at least 3:73, dodge is famous for building trucks with a boatload of of horses to the ground but damn little torque. but that truck ought to pull your 2 horse bp just fine....................Kevin

Yep! They're a real blast in the wintertime or mud. Helpless critters in two wheel drive, even with a little bit of weight. At least the older ones were, lol!

I want the tech notes on the vehicle, carfax, and I will have a tech of my choice check it out! Plus I want some kind of warranty as we are moving and if I drive it to Oregon and it turns out a POS I will take it back.

How irritating!!! We drove out to the car lot just to find out that the stupid Durango was sold like a week ago! Why wasn't I told that when I talked to the sales person yesterday??? If they were hoping to get us there and convince us to buy something else they were greatly mistaken!

Yeah, I really think that a Durango would work perfectly for us but we just need to find one.

So someone is coming to see the Wrangler tonight after work. They are driving about an hour to look at it so I'm thinking that they are serious about buying it and it may be gone tonight... Mixed feelings about that as I love my Wrangler but need a truck. Then after that J and I are going to look at a 99 Ram that looks to be what I need. The Wrangler is listed at $7000 and the truck is listed at $2800 so we will have extra money to put into savings and do the minor repair that the truck needs.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. ;) Good girl. I would recommend a Ford Explorer. I have a mercury mountaineer-same thing. I just love it. It's a 2003 with the V8 and we got it for $8000. When it starts up it sounds just like my old chevy silverado. VROOOOM!!! I love that sound. :D Anyways, it has the 3rd row that we keep folded down and only use when we have to haul lots of people. When we're not hauling people we flip it down and the dog can ride back there. :D It gets about 18 miles per gallon. Not great, but not too terrible.

The Ram is a quad cab so there is room for the kids and the dogs will fit in the back. The trailer we bought is a heavy mother! Home made and prob weights about a half ton.

so you got a truck instead? did you end up selling the Jeep to those people then?

The Durango didn't work out because it's fate trying to tell you to stay away from Dodges and go with a Ford... ;)

Well the Jeep is gone... I'm sad but it needed to be done.
Didn't get the truck cause it was a POS.
So now I'm shoping.

So the truck last night was a POS. Way more wrong with it then he told us! The body was beat more then showed in the pic but that was okay, no major dents etc and as it was gonna haul the trailer that was ok. The drivers seat had a tear in it but it could have been stitched so again ok. Started it up and it sounded good so J and I were thinking that we were gonna get it. Then we test drove it. Drove like a dream! Very comfy and responsive so again we are thinking that we are taking it home. However, about half way through the drive (when it was fully warmed up) it developed an air swooshing noise in the engine and there was a very definate angry grinding noise from the transmission. So we left it there. J is going to look at this one after lunch today: http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/1368714768.html It's a monster but it will def haul the horse trailer and hay to Oregon and then some. Then after a few months I will be getting another Jeep as regret letting mine go...
Now about the Jeep. We sold it for $6000, $800 under blue book so ok. I thought I had come to terms with selling my Jeep but when the time came it was really hard to let it go. The lady that bought it got it for her 15 year old girl... I bet it doesn't see Christmas.

Might go look at this one too http://spokane.craigslist.org/ctd/1368239130.html but it means not getting another Jeep in a few months.

I am just not having the easiest time with this! The blue truck was leaking oil bad and I didn't even take it off the lot. Took another truck to the shop and it had a laundry list of problems so I took it back too. Suppost to look at 2 Fords and 3 Dodges today, one Ford looks like it could be okay but I really don't like the body style. I'd like to get this accomplished this weekend but I just don't know.

No Chevys!!!
Bought my truck today. 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 with the extras added to make it a 2500 (heavier springs, etc.) for $3200. I was impressed with the gas milage today as we drove it almost the entire day and used only a 1/4 tank. Not bad at all for a full sized truck. It does have high milage but it is highway miles and my mechanic told me that it was worth more then I paid and he had no problem telling me to buy it. There are no leaks anywhere! Transmission is in great shape, brakes and u-joints replace 9 months ago, the body is a little rough (not bad though) but it runs great! It has the 5.9 360 V8, Dana 44 front axle, Chrysler 9.25" rear axle which is a little bigger then the Dana 44, 3.92 gear ratio, tow package, automatic, air conditioning, power everything, 2 inch lift with 33" tires. Only thing is the cruise control doesn't work but you don't use cruise when hauling a tailer! We are pulling out the plastic liner and rolling on the rino liner, putting in a trailer brake, checking out the cruise for normal driving and then it will be ready. Oh and the funny thing is that it is the same color green as my Jeep was.

LOL. OK, no Chevys, but I just had to get a plug in for Chevys.... :) altho as much as I love the Chevy cars (I had three Camaros, best cars I ever had), I have to say I do like the Ford and Dodge trucks.
Oy! very nice truck you found, good job! I like!! Sounds like it was meant to be, being the same color as your Jeep!

We were leary of the high miles on it but checked out okay and then I thought at $3200 if in a few months I decide that I don't want to drive it full time and it turns into just the tow rig that's not that much to have spent. Would have sucked to have spent the whole amount on a rig I just didn't drive that much plus this way we had extra money for new seats in J's Jeep and to add to our moving fund.

Oh and most importantly, it is VERY COMFY! The only thing is it is way wider then the Jeeps were so when we are driving down the road in it I can no longer have J's hand on my knee. Gonna miss that.

Well I now have cruise control! It was a simple fix that the previous owner couldn't figure out, the vacume hose disconnected! Sometimes I really like working at a repair shop... I did however find out that I have ball joints to replace but again working at a shop it's $180 instead of $500. Yep, I do enjoy the perks of working here. Now if the boss would just stay gone.

Hooked up my trailer and took Koda for a ride for the first time yesterday. Couldn't even feel the trailer behind the truck. Didn't lad under acceleration (obviously didn't jump off the line like without but normal accel I didn't feel it) and didn't push the truck when braking. Loaded up Koda and I couldn't feel him moving in the trailer at all! We don't have the divider up yet so he was able to move from side to side. The trailer is heavy enough that I felt nothing!
