:pLittle Suzy had a box of very small kittens that she was trying to give away, so she had them out on the street corner with a sign, 'FREE KITTENS' next to them.
Suddenly a long line of big black cars came up with a policeman on a motorcycle in front. The cars all stopped and a tall man stepped out from the biggest car. 'Hi, little girl, what do you have there in the box?' he asked.
'Kittens'Little Suzy says. 'They're so small; their eyes are not even open yet. ''What kind of kittens are they?' he asked.
'Democrats' says Little Suzy.
The tall man smiled, returned to his car and they drove away. Sensing a good photo opportunity, Sen. Obama called his campaign manager and told him about the little girl with the kittens. It was planned that they would return the next day, have all the media there and tell everyone about these 'democrat' kittens.
The next day, Little Suzy is standing out on the corner with her box of kittens with the 'FREE KITTENS' sign and the big motorcade of black cars pulled up with all the vans and trucks from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.
Everyone had their cameras ready and then Sen. Obama got out of his limo and walked up to Little Suzy. 'Now don't be frightened,' he said, I just want you to tell all these nice news people just what kind of kittens you're giving away today.'
'Yes sir,' Suzy said, 'they are all REPUBLICAN kittens.'
Taken by surprise, Sen. Obama said, 'But yesterday you told me they were DEMOCRATS.'
Little Suzy says, 'Yes, I know. But today, they have their eyes open.'
I could not resist. Just a little political humor.:p

Thanks darling wife. I'm just trying to make friends. It's amazing how friendly everyone is on this forum. I love 'em. I think that from what I've read on some of these threads, I've learned that Democrats are people just like us. Now leave me alone, I'm trying to get Arrow to change her mind on voting for Obama.

Naw, the Bible says "For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him" and "Whoever doesn't work, neither shall he eat." Most Christians are still in denial...

“From each according to his ability....To each according to his need”.
Karl Marx 1875
I think it means... Everyone who can work, works. Everyone else just takes what they want. :)
There’s a theory, there’s a practice, and they are not equal.
The saying is only a theory, and was applied wrongly by many. It says that everyone should work to his/her best ability, and one would share harvest. The underline assumption is that there would be abundant wealth to distribute. It has several implications. First, no one could and should collect welfare checks. You’d get nothing if you are sitting around simply because of lacking motivation or laziness. Second, there should be no middle man to dispense allotment since there is more than enough for everyone who is working hard. It’s a beautiful utopia.
None of the countries was ever able to put theory into right practice. Maybe because of human nature?
However, do not blame the saying, when someone gets a wrong interpretation or an erroneous practice. It’s utopia, and might not ever get implemented accordingly.

I think the problem is scale. Most families are fairly communist, but they have a common interest in the whole, and while we sometimes don't think so, membership and cooperation in it is voluntary. Small communes do work, when everyone shares a common value system and the non-productive members can be booted out. The commune model does not work when it gets too big, has a right of inclusion and is too varied in interests.

Well isn't that what's happening now? A bunch of us work so a bunch of other people can sit back getting checks for not doing anything at all? I'd say right now there are more than enough people slacking off. But hey, raise our taxes so we can keep paying for their lazy butts.

Bingo!! There you have it folks!!! Why would it ever work here "in ANY form". We already have a segment of population that wants something for nothing and it will only get worse.

Really? The way I see it lately way more is being given to the corporate bloodsuckers. Once again, corporate welfare is OK but giving the poor help is not? FTR, I am not for subsidizing generations of the same family to live off the government. But if our government can find the money to bail out the Automakers and Wall Street bankers, why stop there?

You are entitled to your opinion for sure....and I won't even call you stupid for having your opinion. I do respect it. However, I for one was totally against any Wall St. bailout. The auto makers...well I have to say I'm undecided. If helping out the giant corporation that keeps thousands of working people employed keeps the workers employed, I say yes. However, if it means helping them out so they can go on with business as usual with no accoutability or responsibility for how they carry on with their business, I say no. We have lost many thousands of jobs to foreign countries because of the expense of doing business in this country. If we keep on, there won't be enough people employed to keep the free loaders fed and clothed. We'll all be hungry and naked.

I wasn't calling you stupid. I am calling the buyouts of mega billion corporations stupid. If that ain't stupid, what is? OF course the corporations aren't stupid, they are smart as hell, getting all that money from the government without having to sacrifice a damn thing. In the end, the workers and the taxpayers are the ones that will be hurt.............

I understand, I don't either. I would move to Wyoming or Montana and make it trusting only on God and the land for survival. Many in our society wouldn't know how to make it if they were placed on a cattle ranch with a million head. They'd starve because no one was there to hand them their food and clothing.

My apologies, I thought the stupid stuff was directed at me and those who thought like me. I get that a lot ya know.:) I can't agree with you more though on the stupidity of our government allowing so much wasted and irresponsibility with no questions asked most of the time. We the people are to blame as much as the politicians. After all they wouldn't be there in Washington if we hadn't voted them in. I certainly am not partisan in my criticism of the knot heads we have in power now. We need change for sure, but we can't all seem to agree on what type of change. We will make it through all of this and hopefully learn from our past mistakes and start holding our politicians just as accountable as we expect them to hold the big corporations and financial giants accountable. Instead, we seem to reward them for their stupidity by re-electing them. It just blows my mind.
