me and hubby are looking to get one, he grew up with a 98% timber wolf so we know what we are doing when we get one. we are not actively looking but when ever we see an add for puppies in the paper we call. its sad how many people are breeding bad crosses and then selling the pups to anyone that wants one and not telling them that you cant treat them like dogs. i found out that there is a "breeder" just down the road from me. i talked to him once and did not like what he had to say. when i asked him simple questions he just said how nice looking they where and how a brother of his female is a police dog. and from what i got from what he said he breeds the male pups back to mommy. to me that is in-breeding and when dealing with in-bred wolf-hybreds that is a bad cross. then selling them to people that know nothing about them is even worse. i have to deal with the people who buy the pups at work because we are the only feed/pet store in town. i had one guy come in looking to by a muzzle because the puppy would not stop barking. the puppy was tied up out side all day with no toys. wolf-hybreds and full wolves can not be treated like normal dogs because they are not normal dogs! but people get them because they think it is cool to have a wolf and then they get hurt then blame the wolf. its sad.
anyone have one or worked with them? they are so smart.

My neighbor owned a wolf hybrid named Aurora. She was sooo beautiful. I'd hear her howl in the night and it would send chills down my spine.

We had a Husky/Malamute/Wolf named Chimay. You are right, they are smart and are different then regular dogs. You really have to understand the breed, they will always keep their wildness to some point. Chimay loved to run, she would always come back but not when you called her. If she got the wild hair to run, she as gonna run. She also preferred fresh catch to anything else. Luckily we moved to the country on a 500 acre farm, she had a pond to catch fish in, fields to catch rats and eventually found a place to get some geese. She was a notorious counter surfer and preferred to be outside. She loved the cold weather, especially the snow. Even at 12 years old, once the weather changed, the puppy in her would come out. Sure miss that girl.
She was very protective of her family. Never bit anyone, but no one wanted to be the first. I would have to keep her in when the kids were small and playing with their friends because she did not understand the difference between kid play and someone is trying to kill my pack baby. They are strong pack animals and regard their families as part of their pack. Chimay respected me as the Alpha female, something that needs to be established. She was beautiful and a wonderful family dog.
I am sorry to hear so many jerks are breeding this hybrids. Many places have outlawed owning them. As long as you understand them, they can be wonderful.

my dad's friends in VT have one named may. we spent a couplt days at their house and she slept with me both nights. Also they told me that whoever isn't at the house as night, she would a take like a stuffed animal or a piece of clothing from their room and seep with all of them. she is so affectionate!
