I decided to go check out the action at the Appaloosa World Horse Show this evening since it was either that or hang out at home and clean! I think I spent the majority of the time there drooling. . .There are some AMAZING looking Apps in this world. I saw a 17 hand Few spot that I just about would have sold my house for. Of course I only got a picture of it's hiney. . .cause I was being shy. Anyways, I have pics of course! There is definitely two different types of Appys. The foundation and the modern Apps. It was interesting seeing them in the same classes!

I took pics of Junior Working Cow and Junior Western Riding and of the arenas and general area. Just like the other shows everyone has been to lately the outside of the stalls here were very impressive!!! Lots of nice furniture and even a few water features!

And a BIG pile of Breast collars. I looked at some of them and they are nice but they guy who runs this store sure makes no effort at presentation!!! But he was a nice man and talked to me for a bit about photography.

One of the stall fronts. I read that the show office has a decorator that these exhibitors can rent furniture from. But I imagine a lot of them bring their own.

The few spot I fell in LOVE with. That woman is about 6 feet so maybe he's not 17 hands. More like 16. But he was GORGEOUS!

Last post!!

I got tired of seeing Apps with no spots (I've got one of those at home. . . and one with spots that has grayed. . ) So I decided to take a shot of a colorful hiney!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/2973915768_dbc0973b6e.jpg

And I followed the hiney all the way back to the warmup arena. . .where I took another pic that looks very similar to the pics I already took.

Went back in and saw a few more colorful coats. .

Wow, super pics! Thanks for sharing! We had a POA when I was a kid, and we had an Appy for awhile in Pennsylvania in the mid-1970s--I suppose they are everywhere now, but some transplanted Coloradoans were surprised to find them in the hinterland of Philadelphia back then! Rocky was a classic Appy--wispy mane and tail, roman nose. Looks like a great time, and you are a fine photographer.:)

That brings back memories. I was at the Appaloosa World Show way back in 1996 and had a blast! I'd love to go again sometime. I spent a lot of money on souvenir T-shirts and sweatshirts.

Those are some amazing photos - love Appys and would love to go to the World show!! I was just at the Quarter Horse Congress here in Columbus and that was pretty cool - like you said, it's neat to see the difference between the foundation types and the more modern types.

Man, the last horse in your first set of pics is massive!! What a tank!

They must have spots somewhere, cause my NC (who is non parentage verified since she is 1/2 Quarter) can't be shown. I guess all the solids are parentage verified. Or maybe they have a tiny spot under their saddles!
