WOW!!! What a weekend! It was so much fun meeting Gaited07 and Vegashorselady. We have been on the go since Friday morning and only stopping long enough to catch a little bit of sleep.

Friday morning I met them at their hotel and we went down to the Clinic. Of course in the morning we were playing musical chairs trying to find the best seat in the house. The arena had some nice bleacher seats, but sitting in those for 8 hours was just not going to cut it. So... we broke out my comfy fold up chairs and planted our butts in VIP section. :innocent:

We watched the clinic and went a little camera crazy trying to get those "butt" shots just for Vicklynn. :D I got a few and I know the gals got more.

At the end of Fridays clinic, we stopped by my horses and visited and fed my herd, then went to my house and visited with my hubby and kids. Then we went out to eat and back to the hotel room for some more visiting and wine.

Saturday we met at the clinic and it was pouring down rain. We waited for the gates to open and noticed there were a few more people with chairs in their hand.... well we just couldn't loose our VIP seats, so as soon as we got through the gait, Gaited07 took off running for the stands....she can RUN!!! :D We got our nice spot, had fun at the clinic spent WAY too much money, then headed back to town. We ended up at the ghost town and well... that's where we landed in jail. :innocent: Seems the town just wasn't ready for 3 women from Baywind...:crazy:

After Vicklynn and Miatapony got our bail money, we got sprung from jail, got some sleep and back out to the last day of the clinic. We started to make ourselves REALLY comfortable and even took our boots off while watching the clinic.

After the clinic was over, we headed back to my barn and decided to go for a ride! We saddled up Joe, Missy and Dallas and hit the little trails around my place. What a great way to end the weekend!

Wow what a weekend you guys had! And to end it all with a trail ride too. The shot of you 3 with CA came out great. That would have been a good chance to get a close up butt shot for sure!! Can't wait to see the other pictures and hear more stories.

Yes, we did learn a few new things. The clinic was great fun too. We were not allowed to video at the clinic, but he did show some great stuff and durung the clinic we kept betting on which rider would actually "learn" something. Some of the riders took it all in and some of the riders just went through the motions. From day 1 to day 3 it was amazing to see how most of the horses transitioned into nice, calm rideable horses. :D

What an AWESOME weekend! We had a BLAST and CG is such a fantastic hostess showing us around and letting us take a quick spin on her beautiful horses was the icing on the cake of the weekend.

I tried to take a few shots for Vicklynn and some others.:innocent:;)

Clinton's clinic was quite informative and it was nice to see how others work with their horses. To see the transformation from the first day to the third was amazing to watch.
We did have one person (the crazy Arabian lady) who lost her mind and left after the final day but that is another story. (a real good one but I'm sure CG or VHL would be better telling it)
I would recommend anyone who is having issues with their horses to watch Clinton's videos or if they can, audit his clinic's. Lots of good useful information.

As for our other activities, well lets just say we made it back home without too many police officers chasing us out of the state of AZ :p:p:innocent:

As for the story with the Arabian lady well lets see, once apon a time there was this older lady who owned a uncontrollable Arabian horse who was SO reactive at everything. At the beginning of the clinic she stated that her horse was too reactive, spooky and hard to control.
The horse had issues with 98% of the exercises that was presented to her and her owner was just bracing on the horses mouth and praying for the best result of not killer herself while her horse explodes.
Day two was little improvement but not much..later in the afternoon the Arabian was again hot and uncontrollable.
On the third and final day, this horse still had issues with over reacting, no control, tense, stiff, bracing against the bit and many more issues that would take days to list.
On one of the exercises Clinton had them do was a canter a figure 8 pattern on a loose rein, this horse could and would gallop, uncontrollable, head, nose up in air and spinning around about to jump over others in the arena. Clinton noticed this issue and told the lady to pull her horse off to the side while the others finished their exercise and he was going to help her address this issue. When Clinton asked her to do a small circle around on the rail to get the horse to do some rollbacks, the rider/owner could not control the horse and was running uncontrollable around. The lady had NO control over this horse and was about to hurt herself or worse, others in the arena due to this issues. So Clinton told her to stop the horse and he would get on and ride it.
It took him about 10 minutes to desensitize it to the whip hitting the saddle. Once the horse stood still long enough for Clinton to mount up, away they went. This horse was off to the races. Clinton was telling the owner and the audience that the horse needs to focus on his feet and not on his reactive side looking for things to spook at or react to. Clinton worked the horse and yes, the horse was a LOT better but the lady owner had her feeling hurt when Clinton told her that her horse needed about 2 weeks of ground work only and then about 60 days training added then would be ready for this type riding with a group.

At the 3 day clinics (I've never been to one of them, just the 2 day) when/if he rides someone elses horse does he use their tack? I assumed he did, but didn't know what he did if he had a saddle that was too small/large for him. I know most saddles wouldn't be to small for his scrawny rear (no offense) but I was just curious.

He rides in the other persons tack. Usually he does not like to ride the participants horses. The clinic is for the participants to learn, not for him to train the horse. :) He actually hated riding in the arabs saddle, because it was some type of endurance saddle, and it did not look comfortable or easy to ride in. LOL

To add to Gaited story.....

Most of the horses that are in the clinic are over fed and under worked. They are not conditioned for the workout that they are going to get over the 3 days. This is the 2nd clinic I have been to. I love watching them. I considered participating last year, but I did what many of these ladys did not do..... READ THE CONTRACT! It states that your horse MUST BE physically fit to enter this clinic and it will be a LOT of hard work and the horses will be put in strenuos conditions. Just about ALL of the horses were sweating and breathing hard. They were not conditioned for the clinic.

I will say that at this clinic more people STAYED for the whole 3 days this year than last year. Last year at least 4 riders dropped out, because they were not prepared to actually WORK their horses.

The lady with the arab was mad because Clinton actually WORKED her horse and got it sweaty and tired, something the horse really needed. When Clinton told her that her horse needed more training and wasn't ready for "group" situations, she got mad at him and asked him "Why didn't you tell me this 3 days ago?"

Well, he does not meet any of the riders until Day 1 when they all enter the arena. He does not know the person or their horse. As the clinic goes on, he can assess each horse and know what it needs or doesn't need. Obviously he is not going to refund anyones money who didn't read the contract with all the warnings of what could possibly happen and that the owners agree and acknowledge that their horse is physically fit to enter the clinic.

I found out today that out of the 14 riders 6 of them were from California.

I always enjoy attending his clinics. I pick up on a few new things that I can try with my ponies. :)

Oh VL we had a blast! As for the troops, don't read the local paper or stop at the local post office, we're in there LOL!

His big tour trailer was not there. So no butt grabbing on this trip LOL!

I will say that out of all these people who participated there was BIG improvements from 99% but there was two ladies that really stood above the rest, Diane and Ann. Two older ladies who had better understandings of there horses and improved seats by the third day. My hat goes out to these ladies!
I do have to say, the first day my opinion of these two ladies was different! I'm glad that they got a lot out of that clinic and keep applying it.

Thanks for the rest of the story and the answer to my question! I greatly appreciate it. I'm wanting to go to another CA clinic. This time I want to go to the three day if at all possible. I think I could learn even more from it. I loved the 2 day one, it was fabulous! I just wish he was coming closer to me. The cloest he'll be next year is about 7 hrs from me I believe. So if I go it's gonna be a long haul. Totally worth it, but still a long haul. So we'll see.
