Anyone else heard or seen this? Susey looks like a chipmunk when she eats, :eek:she's always done it. There's this "pocket" on the inside of her right cheek ( I'm assuming ) because when she eats grain a lump pops out. If I open her mouth and push in on that spot it goes away. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a "chipmunk" and if anyone knew what it was? I'll take a pic tonight if I think about it.

The only time I've seen this is with a mare that was missing some teeth...

Has she always done this?

It could be a tooth bothering her and she is avoiding that area.

We need pics., ok I want to see pics of my girl.;)

Lol I'll get pics tonight promise... she's done this as long as I can remember, it's like the grain goes into a pocket on her cheek... if you push on it, it goes into her mouth again and she starts chewing it. Had me puzzled.

This is what Im imagining. So help me if were talking about the wrong area.

She eats, while she is eating the food goes outside her teeth, you push on it, and it goes back into her mouth.
Could this area your pushing on, be the area where there are no teeth? Hope so.
It's funny that you have a chipmunk for a horse...lol

Vick I thought that too, maybe she doesnt' have teeth there yet? It's puzzling, if I don't push the food back in as she's eating, she'll have that lump there for a while after eating while shes' walking around til she either gets a drink or eats hay, doens't get it when eating hay though.

I mean, where there are no teeth period. You have your first 6 in the front, then a gap, then the back teeth.
Funny how she carries it around like that...silly girl. Makes me think of a baseball player, shes gonna start spitting soon...LOL.
