So I have been owrking my butt off with my sports league. I had a couple messages on the answering machine today and I returned the calls.
ONE lady was a complete bieoche!!!!
Now her message stated she was having issues with her coach.....
So I call her back, here is how the conversation went.
ME: Hello Mrs. Smith this is Kristy with Thunder Alley I am returning your call.
MRS. SMITH: Well it's about time someone got back to me. I have been calling for weeks!!
ME: Ummm... did you leave meassages? I don't see that there are any messages other thna today?
MRS. SMITH: Well no I didn't leave messages, I figured someone would answer the phone.
(by now I am rolling my eyes, I know how this conversation is going to go)
ME: How can I help you today Mrs. Smith?
MRS. SMITH: Well last year I missed the signups and you told me I couldn't get my son into the league because it was too late. It really broke my sons heart. You wouldn't make an exception and let him play. I was just so upset with the league. It's ridicukous that you wouldn't let him get in last year!....
ME: Umm.. OK ... so what is the issue now? You mentioned you had an issue with the coach so your son is obviously playing this season.
MRS. SMITH: Well, my husband called you back in August and left a message for you, then you called him back and got his voice mail and left him a message. I am so un happy with this league. YOU should have kept calling him back till you reached him. That was so unprofessional of you. If I need to contact someone I keep calling them. Who else there answers the phones? Is there someone above you I can talk to?
ME: No, I am the person you need to speak with. I still need to know what the CURRENT issue is?
MRS. SMITH: So what is your position?
ME: I am the president of the league.
MRS. SMITH: So who is above you?
ME: Nobody... now what is the current issue you have?
MRS. SMITH: I just can't beleive how un-professional this league is. My son couldn't play last season because you said it was too late. I am just so fed up....
ME: Ma'am... I need to know what is the current issue you are having?
MRS. SMITH: IT's the coach, he is so unprofessional. My husband tried to call you back in August to let you know, but nobody got back to him.... (ummmm remember what she said earlier?) The coach yells at the kids when they don't make a play. His kids are so undisciplined and he does nothing about it! His wife has hickies on her neck!! I am just not happy with this coach at all, and I do know they are all volunteers, but I want a better coach.
ME: Well, I can get the coach on the phone on a conference call and we can try to work this out.
MRS. SMITH: Absolutely NOT! I do not want him knowing that I am complaining about him and then my son has to pay the price for it. Besides, other parents have tried to approach him and he is not apporachable.
ME: Did YOU try to talk to him?
MRS. SMITH: No, I don't want to talk to him. See if you would have called my husband back in August then we could have switched teams. And we wouldn't be dealing with this.
ME: I'm sorry, but we don't allow kids to switch teams, due to some of the rules and red tape we have to go through to get uniforms. Once the uniforms are ordered the teams are set. We can't get any more uniforms. It's a rules handed down from the NFL.
MRS. SMITH: Well, I don't see why you don't allow kids to switch teams. That is ridiculous. That is now way to run a business. You have to keep your customers happy and give them what they want! I can't believe how un-organized this league is. Even last year when you wouldn't let my son get on a team because registration was closed......yada yada yady yada....... WHY aren't you saying anything???
ME: Because I am listening to YOU! What do you expect me to do??
MRS. SMITH: Well you could say you are sorry for not letting my son get in the league last year, and apologise for not calling my husband back in August, sure you called him back, but you only left him a voice message and did not continue to try and contact him. Do you remember that???? Do you remember my husband calling and leaving you a message?
ME: Umm.. no, that was over a month ago. We get lots of calls on a daily basis.
MRS. SMITH: Well that is another unprofessional thing, you should remember that he called you and you left him a voice message. This league is so un-professional! blah blah blah....
ME: Ma'm I will call the coach and see what we can do.
Mrs. SMITH: Fine Then I will call back tomorrow. What number can I reach you at?
ME: The office number it is xxx-xxxx
MRS. SMITH: I know the office number! I want YOUR number, home or cell phone!
ME: Sorry I can not give that out. You can call the office on Monday if you want.
MRS. SMITH: Well I am going to call back tomorrow!
ME: Ma'am, if you would read the website, it states that the office is closed on the weekends, so nobody will answer your call at that point.
MRS. SMITH: Oh that it just stupid! How can the office be closed on the weekends? You have games going on on Saturdays!
ME: EXACTLY and we are ALL on the fields on Saturdays! And Sunday we get to spend some time with our families!
MRS. SMITH: Well THAT is just stupid! How un-professional is THAT! Just like when you wouldn't let my son get on a team last year. I know someone answered the phones last year on the weekends.
UGH!!!!!!!!!! I always have to say... I love my job! Consideriing we have over 600 kids in the league, this in only the 5th complaint we have had this season! So I am thinking it's pretty good, but it's people like MRS. SMITH that drive me crazy!!! :whack:
