Well, Cammy went off to her new home today, and of course the next foster is already in the works. Her name, right now, is Petey (yeah its a girl). According to the shelter she is at she is micorchipped, but the last place her chip was registered by was the breeder. The shelter managed to trace the breeder to the pet store, and than to the owner - who no longer is at that address or phone. After inquiring, its believed that the dog was abandoned, and there is no way to trace her old owners. The shelter and breeder have her at about 10 years of age, and they contacted our rescue to take her. She some minor health issues that the shelter can not fund. She needs a dental, she has a minor ear infection, and an ulcerated eye. Unless, the situation changes and one of my co workers steps up to the plate, when Petey is discharged from the shelter she will be coming into the rescue and to my home as her foster.

We have already voted at work to change her name to Gracie. Petey for a girl just doesn't work for me. I'll let you know more about her when I get her, and what she's like. I have a feeling she may get a home right off the bat. One of our clients at work has been looking for a small geriatric dog since she recently lost one of hers, and both she and her other aged dog are missing her. We shall see how that works out, but for now, here are the only pics I have of Gracie aka Petey.

Oh what a little angel! She looks so soft, love her coloring. Was their a thread on Cammie and her new home? Which foster was she? I've always wanted to be a foster mommy and hopefully will be once I own my own place :) Looking forward to updates!

Yup, there was a thread on Cammy, it was titled incessant barking.

Cammy, total, was foster number 29 since the middle of last December. Not all of them are fostered in my home. I am the weekend manager of a dog daycare, and at some point nearly all my fosters spend some time there as well. Some stay there entirely, because of energy level needs (like Kylie), or fencing issues (like Joey and Chico). Some spend more time at my house than at work like Shiloh, Banjo (I ended up adopting him), Noah, Daisy, Simon, Peppermint Patti, and than Cammy. Some have been only for visits and down time here like Peaches, Ladybird, Cisco, Bitty, Bo and Luke, Penny, Lincoln, Pinky, and Mocha. Fostering is wonderful, and its also hard. The stories on many like Patti, Scruffy, Joey and Chico, and Petey/Gracie (now called Petunia) are sad and hard to take. Some stay longer than others, and I'm beginning to wonder if Kylie will ever find a home. Some go quickly, I only had Cammy for 2 1/2 weeks. Its hard to let them go, I couldn't let Banjo go. Daisy, Patti, and Noah I also had issues with letting go. The best part of it is, though, that the majority I still see at work fairly regularly.

Penny was a dog that was found by and h.com forum memeber. I still get updates on her, but don't see her often. There were several h.com forum members that aided in the transport to get her to me. Kubota, Rum's moms pup, was also initially supposed to head this way until he found his forever home with one of the transporters:). Shiloh came to me from West Virginia, from another forum member who couldn't get him into rescue out there, and he stood very little chance of finding a home in a shelter. I see Shiloh every weekend when he comes to daycare with his new sister Summer (a golden). Most of my fosters come from area local shelters that for whatever reason end up on the euth. list (usually a space issue although sometimes its medical). I foster for a rescue called F.A.R.M (fallston animal rescue movement).

I also foster bottle fed kittens for a local animal shelter. I play mom for 8 weeks and than take them back to the shelter for placement into homes and pick up the next litter. That is hard both in the amount of work and time and in watching them go.

As for the Petey/Gracie/Petunia update (the dog with many names). Its looking like she's never going to hit the "available" list, as I do believe my boss is going to adopt her. My boss loves Pekes and gerries. This will make rescue Peke #4 for her and they were all 10+ at adoption age. Last year she adopted a 17 year old 1 eyed Peke named Dottie. Dottie still plays fetch even at 17!

Simon was a pretty cool little dude. Both him and Daisy were housemates in a story that really irked me, and set my whole family for a tail spin. Daisy and Simon were my ex's dogs that never ever set foot into a home or had one iota of vetting done to them in their lives. He didn't want them anymore and was going to do the unthinkable. It was all very hard for my oldest daughter who saw those dogs and gave them more attention on the weekends she was there than they got all week. She came home regularly complaining about how they were treated and how much she liked them, but there was nothing I could do until he decided he didn't want them anymore. Anyway, it was very hard for our whole family taking those dogs in, vetting them ourselves, and than finding them homes. The whole thing also created even more issues with my ex and I. However, both Daisy and Simon, come regularly to daycare so we all still get to see them. It made it easier on my daughter, but it was very much like rehoming her dogs and not our dogs to her, and was going against everything I've tried so hard to teach her (a pet is for life). Simon and Daisy didn't fit into my household as well as some of the others did though, and my two older dogs (Cody and Stella) were put in very unfair positions in their own home. It was all very hard, but both pups were and are again well loved.
