The front hit with a vengeance this morning; the rain is coming nonstop, the roads are flooding, City Lake is out of it's banks and all the way over the sheriff's posse arena, and the state troopers are closing roads/working wrecks as fast as they can. I can't get to my patients today--went out to see one yesterday, got lost on a one lane road, backed up to turn around in a driveway, fell off the driveway and buried the end of the Suburban in mud. Wrecker had to come pull me out, and it wasn't easy. Thought I was going to get to hike thru the backwoods to find a main road, then get someone from my main office to come pick me up...Deputyhound was sound asleep and never heard the phone. It's even worse out there today.

Just saw all the boys holed up in the barn. They're going to go into grazing withdrawal if they can't get out soon; poor Stitch might actually miss a meal. Oh, the agony...

Water in the front yard is deeper than the chihuahua is tall. Have to carry her out to a high spot for her to do her thing. She hates it.

Stitch was solid brown yesterday. He gave up today and is letting Prince buffer any rain that's blowing in thru the open runs of the barn. You know it's bad when all 3 of them have crammed themselves into one stall- especially with one as big as Prince. He and Chico don't get along all that well, but they've called a truce today.

I heard them all talking out there...something about an ark, and who they were going to let on board....

We're in the same boat. Although there is promise of sun in the very near future!!! My little run off creek is FULL. Horses are tired of cold rain and I'm tired of clouds!!!! Hope we dry out soon!

Me too! Rain for 8 straight days!

I need a boat to go out to feed. Horses haven't left the barn in days.

Yeah, my husband gave ours some extra time in their stalls this morning and said he literally had to drag Peanut and Sterling out. It wasn't raining, just misting lightly. All six horses stood at the gate for 10 minutes just looking at him, pouting!

I can't wait for some sunshine! Our pond is double it's normal size and now we have an extra..

We need some drying time. Hopefully nothing till next week. I can`t even get a load of hay in. We have what is referred to as "Black Gumbo" clay. Some truly nasty stuff. Slick as snot, and if you try digging in it, you need a pick ax to get it off the shovel. With the horses tromping through it, it turns into mush. Ok please, no more rain. Just for a few days so I can check feet.

I hear ya. We have had rain, cold drizzle and more rain sence? At least the flooding in my neighborhood went down. One good thing about the Ozarks, if ya live high, your lucky. Then again, ya have to hit a low spot to get anywhere...LOL. I was wondering if Noah had another boat around.

I'm out near Winnsboro; we got a total of 8 inches of rain yesterday. The barn flooded, the back yard was nothing but standing water, and I haven't had the nerve yet to go see if the dam to the stockpond survived. I'm sure the lagoon behind the dairy barn has gotten close to spilling over.

And it started raining hard again this morning between Winnsboro and Mount Vernon as I was slogging my way out to see patients. I'm having to put off all the folks who live out on ratty little country roads due to the mud and goo. I hope they're OK...
