This is the last weekend for Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio. I am thinking of going tomorrow I just wonder if I would really enjoy it. I hear the shopping is good but what about for other disiplines. I am not really into western or quarter horses do they have other breed related stuff? Should I go?

there is a thread somewhere around here about the QH congress. A few members went and enjoyed it.

They have great concessions and tack sales. It's a QH show..so expect to mostly see QHs although I've occassionally seen pony rides and drafts for show.

You'll see a variety of disciplines etc. Should be lots of fun :)

The last weekend of Congress is the best to go if you're into shopping. There are awesome deals all throughout the month, but the last few days the sales are CRAZY.

I live only 10-15min away from where it's held so I've gone the last few years. Obviously it's all QH classes....lots of pleasure classes. There's a schedule online if you Google AQHA Congress. We made the mistake this year of not bothering to see what was going on while we were there so we got stuck watching Western Pleasure (no offense to any WP people out there....just not my cup of tea lol), lol. Oops! Better luck next year I guess.

You can find tack for pretty much anything...though a LOT of it is Western and most of the English tack tends to be for hunters. There was a bit of dressage equipment, but definitely not much. You'll find the big names in the equestrian supplies business there....Rod's, Schneider's, Chick's, Big Dee's, and many others. Lots of feed and supplement reps, etc...

It costs $25 to park, which is a rip off in my opinion....but the city of Columbus brings in a TON of money every year thanks to this event...which is a good thing, I guess.

It's just really cool to go to at least once, in my opinion. And seriously - if you like sales....check it out. :D

What eleveneleven said :p
The only problem with going the day before it ends is that many of the vendors leave a day or two early, so the selection might not be as great. However, EVERYTHING will be on sale.
I hope you have fun if you go!

Go!! I used to compete there (yes all the way from WA) and it was an amazing experience! There is Million Dollar Stallion Avenue to see (amazing to see all the handsome boys!), tons of shopping with great deals, and so many different events to watch. Being the last weekend, I'm not sure which events are still left...

If you want to have a great experience, you should wait until next year and go to the freestyle reining. I got to watch Rugged Lark (VERY famous QH) my first time at congress and it was one of his last performances. It gave me chills and made me want to cry!

I've never been to QHC, Ohio's too cold for me, but I've been to the APHA World Show a few times and it's pretty neat. Check the schedule though, make sure they're doing something you're interested in.

You definatly should go!
I went last weekend, and there have like everything there. Both english and western stuff. And they have things for more than just qh's there. And like the others said, the sales are the best towards the end. Thereisone vendor that is there, Rod's Western Palace, and they have TONS of stuff, english and western, and they have a crazy huge sale at the end of the week and their stuff is soooo cheap. Its kinda crazy though, they have to have so much security because there are so many people that go, because the deals are so good.

Its definatly worth checking out. If I were you, I'd go :)

I'd go if I were you! If it was closer to me, I'd definitely go, but I'm all the way in Oregon.
