Me and Auda's very first show is in 4 days. For those who don't know I entered her in a dressage test doing Intro Test A. She has been doing SO well, I couldn't be more pleased with her. Dressage is truly her calling. She's never felt more natural and happy undersaddle than ever before. Today I clipped her up all pretty (and by clipped I mean trimmed with scissors because my clippers are broken). I trimmed her big beard, muzzle, tail and fetlocks. I also braided her mane and tail to keep her relatively clean through all this mud until the show. She looks smashing! I deeply apologize, but I didn't get any pictures because my camera is charging. I got the schedule for the show today finally! I go on at 8:30 in the morning  and am the VERY first person in the whole show. Eek. My nerves are finally settling down about the whole thing. Auda's been doing so great I'm just so proud of her I could care less if she comes in first or just spooks across the ring. :D I'm just excited to get her out and exposed and going to an actual show.

Sunday I went to my cousin's to get all of her dressage clothes that I was going to borrow, but they were too small. Me and my cousin are like almost exactly the same size, but she hasn't worn these for years so I guess she used to be a lot teenier than me! So I'm just going to pick up a polo shirt, wear my tan breeches (only pair of breeches that I own:o) and go casual. On the bright side, her boots fit me perfectly and my parents just bought me a really nice new show helmet so I can still look pretty classy. :p

Both of my parents and cousin and aunt are coming to watch me, and I also talked to some friends who used to board at the barn I worked at and they're coming to. They tried to enter in the same test I did, but all the slots were full so they're just going to watch. So that's awesome. :)

Also, my mom *finally* started riding again! She used to ride a lot when she was a kid, but hasn't really ridden much at all except a small handful of times with any of my horses. She'd been saying for a year she wanted to start riding again but in 2008 she got kicked and broke her elbow so she's been too scared to. She's been riding again for two months and is starting to remember her natural ability! She's really a great rider and Chica's taken a real shine to her (and Chica's veeeery picky). We've been trail riding together like twice a week, me on Auda and her on Chica. Auda really enjoys the trails. I know she prefers to do the arena work but she does enjoy taking a break and just having a leisurely ride every now and then.

Okay, now I'm going to say something and I'm sure you all are going to want to smack me, and I give you permission to do so. I'm not going to sell Auda. *ducks* I know I've been going back and forth about the whole thing for so long, but the reason I wanted to sell her was because I never thought we were a good pair, never had anything close to a bond, and we were never happy doing what each other wanted to do. But in the last monthish practicing for this test, we finally made that bond. Auda found something that she *loves* to do, and everytime I ride her now, even when she's being naughty I can just feel her bursting with joy. She's so proud of herself that she found something she likes and is good at, and I'm so proud of her too. I feel like every time I ride her she's thanking me because she's so happy that she gets to do what she's doing. And that makes me happy. We finally figured each other out. :)

cookies, brownies and cake for anyone who read all that.

Sounds like everything is going really well for you. :) Good luck at the show. I'm so happy that you found something that both you and Auda can connect over. It's such a treat!

You better have pictures next time. :p! Or else...

Thanks, Fork! :) I will try to get pics next time. I can almost never get pictures when I ride because it's usually just me home, and then on the weekends when my parents are there, they're too busy to get pictures, but I can get some pictures of just the ponies next time. But I'm sure you guys would all just hate that ;):p I actually made a mental note to take pictures today and on the way out the door I grabbed the camera but the batteries were dead. :(

Gypsy- thanks! :)
Dash - I know we will have fun. We always do. :D We always try to do our best. (er at least, I do my best to get her to do her best. Sometimes she has different ideas ) Thanks!
WB and Gaited - Thanks guys! :D Yes I'm sure *someone* in the group will get pictures. They also have someone filming each ride so I'm supposed to get a DVD of it.
FlapJack I'm really glad we finally clicked. For so long I've been trying to get any kind of connection, but it just felt hopeless. After everything we went through since she was rescued I just couldn't figure out how she accomplished so much and still had no bond or relationship with me whatsoever. I figured if it was going to happen it would've happened through all of that rehabbing. But I guess not. I'm really glad she will work out for me, though. Even before when things weren't going so well I was having the hardest time selling her. I felt absolutely terrible knowing I was sending her out into the world not knowing if she'd be okay or not. I'm glad I won't have to anymore :cowboy:
Vegas - thank you! :)

Thanks, doc. Don't worry! I promise to get pictures!

Haha, no I'm the same way. Like I was pretty bummed when Caitlin sold Keidas. After hearing about a horse for so long and seeing pictures and videos on a weekly basis it just feels... odd... when suddenly you don't get that anymore.

Great update, Zoe. Glad you helped Auda find her calling and that your mom is starting to ride again!
