Guess what Anna and I worked on today???

COLLECTION AT THE TROT!

:) So I know its not a big deal to some but to those that know me it is! She did great and the feeling is beyond incredible. As soon as she collected I could feel her back round up under me and so much power coming from her back end that it was like we were going together each step not just trotting out but actually in sync on each step.
were still working just in circles and small bits but its awesome. :)

So that was my little update. It was fantastic!

Well I think it's a big deal! It's not that easy to do.

I worked for a long time just getting Gypsy to go on the bit nicely and connect- good collection was beyond our capabilities by the time we learned how to go on the bit- she got arthritis a few years after that.

Great job!

haha  well one beggining one you can do is first section you arena in half using two cones and then a barrel closer to the fence. Start by trotting Beauty in the big circle twice and then when you cross through the middle for the second time take on the smaller circle while still keeping the same contact with the reins and the same gait (trot)

another one is do this pattern but change gaits from a walk to trot then back down about every 4 strides. Make your transitions clear and when you go down to the walk keep your contact and energy the same.
Here I drew you this little diagram to help haha. what I said probably didn't make any sense.

The picture is confusing! But basically make sure before you go around each small circle you've already gone the big one then come back to the small and circle fully around it
on the big circle your horse will stretch out and on the smaller it will cause her to use more of her hind end.

Haha, love the diagram! :D

Actually I think I get it- so what you said did make sense! xD I like excersises like that- like the big circle-little circle kind. You just gave me a new way to do it. Cool! :D Thank ya! If the rain/sleet/ice/snow and high winds ever stop I'll saddle her up and try it out!
