LOL, just thought I'd let everyone know how much I love my horses. They are all doing very well and we've been having a lot of fun lately.
I've been riding bareback a lot lately, which is a big deal for me since the two big wrecks I've had over the past few years were while I was riding bareback on Blue and it's taken a lot for me to get over it. It was almost funny how nervous I was to get on my sweet 22 year old mare, Poppy's, back without a saddle at first...thanks a lot Blue. Anyway, I'm over it now and feel it's helped me regain a lot of the balance and seat I felt I'd lost over the past few years as a rider.
Also, I've ponied my two year old, Remington, on quite a few trail rides lately and he's turned out to be a great horse. He's a level headed little guy and takes every new thing in stride. Rem has learned to walk up and down steep hills on the trail and cross deep narrow gullies and even walk over train tracks at a rail road crossings (he had to sniff at the concrete for a minute before he would walk over it). After seeing the other two year olds at my barn buck like mad when they were saddled I thanked my lucky stars that Remington is my colt. He never batted an eyelash the first time I saddled him. Even when something startles him he jumps but then turns and checks out the scary object and usually if it fits in his mouth it ends up in there unless I can stop him, lol!
I've been spending some time with my mare Scout to refine some things like her sidepassing and spins and such. We've been jumping some little crossrails and such for fun, turns out she's a pretty good little jumper!
Anyway, that's what we've been up to. Fall is the best time of year in Las Vegas.:)
