Not much of a thread, but I'm pretty excited about it. :D
Hopi will be 3 years old in 4 months, and has had all the pre-riding necessary groundwork done for months. I've just been waiting till she turns 3 before I'll start the actual riding, but today I decided I couldn't wait. :o I had her all saddled and bridled and was working on keeping her mind sharp on all the bit pressure stuff and decided to hop up there. I got on and she stood still like I'd done it a thousand times. She turned her head back and looked at me sitting there on her back and had this adorable expression like "Okay, you ready to go now?" :D I was up there for maybe 10 seconds and then got off. Anyways, it was a super happy moment for me. I can't wait till this spring when I'm going to start her. She's going to be an amazing mount. :)
And no, no pics. Please don't flog me :o

Congrats! You've taken her far, she sounds like she is going to be one heck of a horse.

Hehe thanks. I am sooo excited! It just amazes me to look at this big girl (just a hair under 15 hands, now) and think back to just two years ago when she was this teeny tiny little thing fighting for her life. I'm so thankful she's my horse. I love her to pieces :)

Congratulations!!! :D
I don't have that same first moment, but when I had my Sombra (shadow) I got on her the first time after the year break she'd had for my pregnancy. When I threw my leg over I had this fleeting thought, "What is she's NOT okay with it..." ROFL. Turns out she was fine, but later on she did throw me about 6 ft in the air. However, that is a different story. I'm just glad Hopi was perfectly fine with you riding. :)

Thanks. t'was very exciting :D
Haha swms, I never had that thought with Hopi. I've never known a horse who loves everything as much as Hopi lol. I was sacking Chica out with a tarp and Hopi was loose while I was doing it and Hopi comes up, pulls the tarp off a Chica's back and carries it around in her mouth like a dog. I covered her entire body up with it and she just stands there chewing on it giving me her little doe-eyed innocent expression she always does. Her first experience ever with a tarp hahaha. She's such a dork. She actually gets upset if I'm unsaddling a horse and she's out with me and I don't put the saddle on her when I'm done lol. Like if I just put it on the fence while I'm brushing out the other horse, she'll knock it over unless I put it on her first. I guess she just wants to be a big horse, too! :p
