As of Sunday, Californians will have an extra 10% income tax taken from their paycheck. This is interest-free money loaned to the government who states they will be pay it back in April. This is supposed to help with their huge state deficit. Will that money be available in April & what happens when it's not?

Was there a referendum asking permission to do this? They say it is not a tax increase. Then what the hell is it? Nice time too, right before the holidays & tax time. And I thought Wisconsin sucked when it came to high taxes.

(Typed by HeavensEast who whined the whole time because natisha was calling her a brat and saying she had to leave if she didn't type for her.)

~chuckling at this little side drama between Natisha and the forced-typist HeavensEast.~ :D

That California TAX thing is really incredible. I don't know how they got away with that.

I don't know how they got away with that. Taking 10% of peoples pay and using it to pay their debt that they created and not paying interest on it. Wish I could take out a loan with no interest.

I think stealing covers it. It would be interesting to see what someone from CA thinks about this. A big worry is if this catches on with other states or worse.

I hadn't heard anything about this. It really is quite unfathomable. I have to wonder if it is actually legal.

I know that California is in some seriously deep financial doo-doo, not all of which is really stuff within their control. They got really powerfully screwed by the Fannie/Freddie thing. Tax revenues have taken a total dive. They're desperate.

The fact that our Governator is a RINO, out of work actor might help explain some of our problems. IMHO the man couldn't run a popsicle stand without a team of experts to hold him by the hand.

I can't imagine that is legal! If I lived in CA I'd be making plans to move out.

I vote for B. stealing.

See how giving government too much power works out, people?

Funny how it never occurs to them that in lean times government should get by on less just like everybody else.

on a lighter note it just started snowing here. You need to write your state politicians & politely tell them that after the next election they will be the ones without a check at all.

Your state is also now allowed to put stray animals to sleep after 3 days instead of 6, all to save money. Arnold needs a few letters about that too. I sent him one over a year ago when he first proposed it. I guess I now how my answer. :(
