I let the kids play on the computer sometimes. They have accounts on certain kids websites which is fine with me. However, Nico was on the computer while I was in my office and when I came out to check on him he quickly signed off the internet.

So being the nosey mom I am, I went back and checked what he was doing. I found he was doing a google search of pictures and guess what the pictures were? Here's the list of his search terms:

"naked boobies"
"boobies"
"naked girls"

 He is only 12!!!!! I didn't know how his father would react, but when I told him about it that night, he started laughing and said.... "Well at least we know he is a normal boy" :hysterical:

Well Nico is now grounded from the computer for awhile. :whack:

I put parental setting on my kids accounts (well my daughter now LOL, son is too old) and that would take care of 99% of those sites

Sorry but it is kind of funny except a simple boobie site can quickly turn into something no one should see. Aren't there locks or something you can put on the computer?

Yikes! Sounds like you've got your hands full! Besides seeing if you can put some type of parental control on those types of sites, maybe you could explain to Nico that those sites can put viruses on the computer, and maybe crash it. Then nobody would be able to use it for quite some time!

As for eplaining the rest of why it's not good for a 12 year old to be looking at those sites, I can't help you there. I've never been a parent, lol!

At least we know he is a "boob" man. :hysterical:

It's OK WB.... my husband and I laughed about it too, when Nico wasn't around. :D If you knew MY family history it's understandable why my husband was releived. ;)

When my son'S went though this, I too kicked many butts and disconnected many Internets and pulled ALL computers downstairs for a month or two (different offenses different punishments LOL) STRICT internet applications/parental controls was applied and no more problems:)

Lmao! :p
Ah well, in year 7 (when kids are 12) some guys would have indecent photos on their phones, not so many though, it was much more a giggly embarassed area back then :p By year8, I'd say almost all guys did. I mean, we're fifteen (some fourteen) now and alot of guys have even had their own experience with these 'areas' ahah and have absalutely no trouble in talking about them openly infront of us,much to our dismay xD I'd say it's pretty much normal. The guys all seem obsessed with who has the most 'experience' now. Us girls don't seem quite as bothered, we're happier to take our time. :p

He is curious and I don't hold it against him for wanting to see. He is at the time in his life where his hormones are going to start going into over drive. I honestly would rather have my child looking up websites at home so me or their father can discuss it with them, guide them in proper behavior and answer questions they will have about sex and the opposite gender's body. All too often sex is hidden in families and treated like something dirty, when it is not; after all that's how you got your kids to begin with.

I would find out about the parental controls and set the computer up so it is not a free for all, but have dad sit down with him and answer questions about the female body when mom and sister are out of the house.

As funny as this situation was, it has to be terribly embarrassing for your son, and I think he needs answers and guidance more than strict punishments.

Now those are some really shocking and nasty terms, aren't they? That is pretty funny. Don't tell him about being able to find search histories, for heaven's sake. Boys......

"Really deep down inside most men are still 7th graders.............:p"

That deserves a big, loud DUH!, R. Women figure that out early, darlin'.

Wow...young. I have 3 boys at home and I am always worried. I use the MSN software and they have a parental control program but I don't think it's working. I have it on strict and even have websites under blocked but I still see my oldest on Youtube which is a big no-no. Can anyone tell me of a good program I can download or tell me how to fix it?

I hate my blocking software. It pretty much blocks EVERYTHING whether it's actually bad or not. Once it blocked this site where you could take a quiz to find out what dog breed you should get for Dating.

Yeah some of the filters are pretty persnickety. Some of them may block this thread because it talks about 'boobies', for good or ill. ;)

Like Horserider said, mine just blocked everything :p

To be honest, it's not so bad he's doing this. It's normal, it's healthy, it's natural right?
I agree, maybe time to sit down and talk in a non embarassing way if you can.

I remember having the "talk" with my son about uh...:huh:

It was REALLY hard, as a single mom... believe you me!

I basically said... "uh... it's normal, and natural... but.. lock your damned door.. or do it in the shower"

Not sure if that was too many pointers..but hey, a mom doesn't want to even walk in on that ONE time...

:oops::doh::o:help::whiteflag:

Well...I REALLY didn't know how to encounter that...uh..walk in?

So I thought about the episode of Roseanne where DJ is "going through the change" for boys...

And thought about "Dans" discussion with him...

(I'm a roseanne fan, lol)

And came up with...

Yes...everyone does it... no one talks about it... lock the door... shower is best... I won't knock if you've been in there more than 20 min...

Sorry... single mom here (at the time)

Bad Nico:p but it is normal.. I was guessing what you were going to say before I read what he did! Maybe it is time to have that dreaded *Birds N the Bees* chat with him;) When my son was 12 there was no computers,, I would catch him with his father's Penthouse and Gallery magazines!

Great advice...I completely agree!
His choice of search words shows he's just curious. "boobies" is not the term most 12 year old boys would use.

I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where sex is not a taboo or forbidden thing. (My family's business relies on the sex industry) and I am proud to say that because my family was so open with me and answered all of my questions I didn't become sexual until I was 17 and it was with my current boyfriend I'm 21 now. I think that a lot of people do not realize how important the sex talk truly is...

Hang in there mom! :)

*eta because I wasn't afraid to discuss sex and not be ashamed to read about it regarding how to be safe etc I often found myself giving my friends advice when it came to sex

LOL! Poor Nico, he's being ratted out to a forum that is made up of mostly women. Your merciless CG! At least Nico is at home doing his exploring and has two parents that are on the ball. I've heard some pretty scary stories from people about what some 12 year olds are up too.

LOL, I KNEW you were going to say that!

As for hiding things from the kids....nope, it doesn't happen. We are not a modest family. Many things are out in the open. We don't hide much from the kids. Heck, our bathroom doors are always open when it's just the family at home. And the kids constantly remind me that my butt jiggles when I'm not wearing jeans ...LOL

I wasn't mad about "what" he was looking at, it was the point that he did it sneakily (is that a word?) He is supposed to ask me when he wants to look up certain things other than homework! I don't think "boobies" has anything to do with homework.....yet.

And yes, I think it's time to have a serious talk with Nico. Some of the things he comes home talking about makes me go  So we need to clarify a few things with him. I understand curiosity, we all went through it. ;)

But he is still grounded from the computer. :whack:
