So opinions ? Too harsh, Too lenient? I would like to have seen some monetary compensation to the service departments.

Money compensation would be good, but they probably don't have it.
I think it's good. We certainly don't need these people behind bars, they're idiots, not threats to society... I'm not even sure I'd have charged the dad with a felony, that has serious consequences for life, and the charge is really something pretty silly in the wider scheme of things.
I think they should apologize and get this over with. I agree that money compensation would be good.

Well I think if Mayumi was deported it would have left those children with the less stable parent and that could have been bad!! I'm ready for them to fade off into the sunset. . . I hope their boys turn out better than the Dad. . .

See I think Dad ought to be tied to a post, and every person who worked the rescue from pilots, to law enforcement, to military personnel, to news reporters, gets to walk by and kick him in the nuts, just sayin.............Kevin
ETA: oh and it needs to be televised

I think they should pay a fine...I don't care if it takes them until death to pay it off...
I think the most important aspect of this punishment is so the children see the consequences of their parents actions.
