Okay.....I am teaching Tara my cousin the different parts of the horse and how to groom and soon I am going to have her give Jorie a bath.....I trust Jorie more then I do Pearl.....Pearl is more like a one person horse:rolleyes: Anyways if I see Tara excel in horses I am going to get her a free lease horse. Well I have already talked to my friend that has a kid proof mare to see if she will let me free lease her and she said that is fine just let me know when......

so the question.......if Tara shows herself worthy of caring for a horse and learning to ride and I get the horse,

If you were 14 would you like to be picked up after school on horse back as a SURPRISE that she is going to start learning to ride? Or just have the horse here waiting to be groomed and bathed?

hrmmm I'm an odd cookie...I'd LOVE to be picked up by a horse. However - if she's still testing the waters on horses (lets face it kids are mean mean mean these days) someone might make fun of her and therefore put a bad taste in her mouth towards being into horses. I dont know why but for some reason people like to pick fun at people who are into horses where I'm from. Just food for thought.

Well I am out in the middle of the country and almost everyone has horses but I know where you are coming from Shadyhill. It is something to consider.

And I just started thinking......maybe I should just have the horse here because she has NEVER ridden before and she might not be comfortable ridding even though it would be double.

If you don't think she would be embarrassed, I would do it. Her friends will undoubtedly think it's really cool! Could you just give her the option to either ride with you, or both of you walk home with the horse(s) if she isn't quite ready to ride? But meeting her at school sounds way cool.

I was kind of thinking the same thing as Shadyhill. I wouldn't have liked it if someone did that for me. I would've been embarrassed. I was teased enough about horses when I was in middle school. It'll either embarrass her or she'll think you're the coolest cousin ever. You know her better than we do.

Thats funny to me. All of my friends always wanted to go riding with me. But i rode before and after school, haha i even wore my spurs to school everyday cause i wore my boots and i was too lazy to take them off and put them back on! they had rubber holders on them. My senior year, me and a couple friends rode horses to school, got tickets, but rode horses to school. I never had one person pick a fight or tease me over horses. but i am a pretty outspoken person, and usually get along with just about everyone.
