We are so excited!! Our pygmy goat girl Meg had her first successful delivery today!!! About 10 months after her scary c-section. Yay!!!!!!!!! Our goats are pets only so this was a big deal for us!! Our first baby born on the property!!!! Wyatt is so excited!!

I noticed last night that Meg was acting strange so we separated the boys out from her and I checked on her during the night. No baby this morning but I kept her in because she was still acting strange. Then this afternoon when I went to feed horses I noticed she was down and then I noticed blood and of course after the c-section last spring I panicked!! Ran over to her and saw a little white thing next to her and in my panic I thought it was our cat Cindy but it wasn't!!!! It was our new baby!!!!!! She's a little girl Pygmy, and I think she will have blue eyes but I'm not sure!! We are going to call her Lele! Which is kinda funny because often it comes out as Wewe when Wyatt says it.

I took pics and checked to see that she was okay then we headed to town to buy shavings so we could set up the horse trailer with a heat lamp and comfy bedding. It's not safe out in the world for her since she was in the pen that the fox got Mary. I'm not losing another one. . so if I can't travel anywhere that's okay!! Who needs to ride!

Anyways, I know ya'll just want to see pics so here they are!!!

Wyatt was VERY impressed!! He had a ton of questions about the afterbirth that Meg still had coming out! He thought it was 'cool'.

Your baby goat sure is cute. How big is a pigmy baby goat?

Thanks everyone!! She is around the size of my two hands together. Maybe a touch smaller. About the size of a chihuahua! Her head is as big as her body!! Which is amusing to me!! Meg is the size of a large cocker spaniel though so Miss Lele isn't going to be very big!

So precious. I want goats, my friend wants to give me the goats but my husband doesn't want anything else we have to feed. We worry about coyotes too, they'd have to be in some sort of dog run or something.

Your baby is just too cute, so is mommy. Congratulations!

Sooooo cute! I have been wanting one for awhile - this just made it worse. Are they hard to care for? Can you have just one (that would live with my goose... think they'd make friends with a goose?) or are they like horses and happier with a friend?

Well they are happier with a buddy. But two aren't any harder to care for than one. Goats are pretty easy to take care of. They just take some wormer every so often, you can clip their hooves yourself, just a handful or so of grain a day, hay if they don't have grass and that's about it. (And if you owned my goats they require McDonald's french fries at least once a month. Clyde said so.)

:)I can handle the french fry part!:) And the "goose yard" (as it's called now although it is supposed to be small arena some day) where I'd put him/her is a very grassy area about 50'x70' with a four foot mesh fence. Lucy Goosie is out there alone now and I wanted to get her a duck for a friend but hubby says "goats are cuter and they'll help me not have to mow that lawn so often". I said "but I'd worry about coyotes" and hubby gave me the dumb look I deserved and said "and we're not already worried about Lucy out there alone - do you think a goat will make it less safe?" Hmmm... I'll have to look around and see how much goats cost - what breed are the ones you have EW?

I have pygmy goats. And I lock them up at night in a small really tall pen made up of horse panels (4 of them in a square. Might be safer for you goose to get locked in too, although whatever killed Mary our lamb jumped that fence. (we think it was a fox). I also like Lamancha goats (they don't have ears really, very cute!). And the nice thing about the goats is they like bramble and vines! And we have a ton of that! They aren't as big on grass but they'll eat it. Sheep like grass better. Goats like to browse like deer do. They eat trees, and bramble and vines and other stuff like that. And they are VERY cute!

Congrats! That is wonderful news. And another subject for you to photograph! Can't get much cuter than your Wyatt but Lele is giving him a run for his money.........

Aww, she IS the cutest little baby! I love goats, too. We're down to one right now as I just can't convince my husband to share my love for them. He's a pygmy cross and is doing a dandy job at keeping the leaves cleaned off the deck. :)
