I took yesterday off to ride with Ajdesertrider and another friend Vicki. I needed a day to just relax. Of course I took my faithful trail mount, Dallas. :D

There is a bit of "history" about this trail. First Ajdesertider used to do a lot of endurance rides so she knows some really great trails. She had taken a group last year on this trail ( I missed that ride) and the next day, the other gals posted about the ride saying it was REALLY technical and they had to jump rocks and other scarey things..:hysterical: so it got named the "Kickbutt Trail". I kept asking Ajdesertrider "how bad could this trail be?" and she said it really isn't that bad.

Finally yesterday she took me on this trail and it was great. A few small areas that Dallas had to think about, but nothing that any horse couldn't go through. Guess the riders from last year just haven't been on very many REAL trails. :hysterical: This was a good ride.

We started out in the wash and got our horses loping in the nice sandy areas. The only issue I had was my packs wouldn't stay closed and as we were loping all my stuff was flying out of my packs! I lost my camera at one point, but Ajdesertider went back and found it...whew!!

So here are the pics from yesterday.....

Heading out through the washes

I had to get off Dallas, because he kept wanting to lay down in the river and he had my new EXPENSIVE barrel saddle on.

looks like an awesome trail! I went to a ranch in Arizona once and I loved the trails, they are so different than what we have in Washington. I bet Dallas slept well last night! he looks tired but happy

He was in heaven when we were running through the washes, and at the river, but when we hit the regular trails he was thinking "oh Sh!!, here we go again!" :hysterical:

Terrific scenery - like Jacki said, very different from here. It's neat to see other areas of the country through the forum :) Watch out for the cacti!

This weekend, I am going to watch the "Wild Women" of our local forum, ride in the Buckeye parade on Saturday. Then Sunday we will head over to Dunns arena for the Show and tack sale. So hopefully we will get a ride in afterwards.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It's especially nice that you can share trail riding pics when it is the off season for so many others. Looks like fun but I think I would get lonesome for the hardwood forest around here. :)

Of Course silly woman! You are always welcome to ride with us. We ride a lot during the week. That way we don't have to worry about quads and stupid people. :)

I would soooo love to ride in the mountains. I tried that over the summer, but my daughters horse freaked out and I ended up with a couple of broken ribs. I miss the forest riding like I did when I lived in Wyoming. The desert riding is definitely different. If we ever get a truck that will haul my trailer up to the mountains, I will be spending more time up there during the summer.

You could always come up to Minnesota to ride! Lots of hardwood and pine trees up here. Not many places to ride in my area, but way north, central and the southern part of the state have some great places to ride from what I've been told.

Your trail ride scenery looks totally different than what we have here. Glad you had a great time, and that your camera survived!

Some day I think we need to have a Nevada/Arizona forum campout in the Flagstaff area...lots of trees and nice trails!

beeeee~autiful scenery! i love your pics. it didn't look to rough. Dallas might disagree...
all of our good trails are under about 8 feet of water or knee deep mud right now~we have one nice hillside and are making new trails on it today. all the deer are hanging out up there too, they got a few started for us~
