My favorite lesson horse, an ancient TB gelding is suffering with rhino. Bless his little heart, he has dropped weight, is all stocked up from being stalled and isn't hungry. I kind of thought we were going to lose him.
HOWEVER, today, he wasn't coughing so I talked with the BO and she agreed he could walk around the arena while I taught my lesson. So I put his thin little behind on a biiig long lungeline and my student practiced her leg yields on the other side of the arena.
He finally looks to be on the mend.
Rather than working him in the arena where he can be infecting other horses--even at a distance and with no coughing because you handle him and then handle your student's horse, I would turn him out in an unused paddock that doesn't have other horses around it.

All the horses on the property had a rhino booster as soon as he came down with it and none show symptons, are they safe?
No, it's not a guarantee that they are protected just because they are vaccinated because vaccination is dependant on a well-functioning immune system in the recipient. So, if the horse's immune system was already stressed when he was vaccinated or has been stressed since it is still possible for an infection to occur. That is why it is very important not to just ignore proper quarantine practices just because a horse has been vaccinated.
