i went out to the barn to take care of dreamer on monday, my barn owners were telling me how he wasnt acting himself, laid down alot of the day, and wouldnt hardly graze. i checked him over to find BOTH back legs severely swollen, tender, with LOTS of heat. when we would lead him he was walking like a old arthritic man, and it felt like we were dragging him and couldnt walk slow enough. walked the fence line and found a spot. it looks like he was playing with courage and kenai through the fence and kicked the fence( not hard enough to be serious cause the board didnt break and it was a THIN old board about 1/2 inch thick, on the top was 2 marks spaced about the part apart of his back feet, and two hoofprints sunken deep in the mud. i think he kicked up got kinda stuck, and wiggled to get back out. he has no cuts at all. as i brushed hte mud off him he was tender throughout his rump and back. i poluticed his legs, wrapped them up with cotton and vet wrap, put his blanket on, put all his hay in a hay net, and gave him some bute. after he got some bute in him he started moving better my barn owner, other boarder, and myself talked it over and decided we are going to give him a couple days, if he is still not better then ill call the vet out. this was the day before one of our big trail rides.:-( hes on complete stall rest( its been raining cats and dogs here too). iv been hand walking/ letting him roam the isle while i clean his stall.
i borrowed my friends grandpas horse cowboy( hes for sale too might i add) and fell in love. if i was in the market for another horse, he would defiantely be the one i would buy for sure. he was soo much fun to ride. hes probably 14hh-14.2hh goes up hills like a tank( you can really feel his power and strength). and he gives to the bit well. i rode him for the first time anyone has in 6 mos. this horse spins on a dime. is registered quarter has good bloodlines, and lots of personality. i think hes either a buckskin or a dunskin or somehting. hes got a strip down his back.

Oh no! I hope he heals himself up with some rest and care.
There's no better way to sell yourself on a horse than on a good long trail ride huh :)

cowboy was AMAZING. he was a bit of a handfull at first( cant blaim him). hadnt been rode in 6 mos, some girl i didnt knows horse( who she could NOT control) KICKED HIM as she was losing control and passing me i was side stepping out of the way and her horse nailed us, then bit the horse infront of her, and continued on to kick my friends horse TWICE( no red ribbon was on this horse either). he was tossing his head a little but he needs his teeth done, and wanted to go go go. we did some trotting( other people was troting, i had him cantering as slow as the others were trotting at ease( after the other girl and our friend left.. she had to work). we opened them up for all horses cantering down a open strip/ gravel road and OMG he was amazing, came right down to a walk when i asked too. theres NOTHING he wouldnt go over, we jumped some down trees( by choice), crossed part of the lake, hes AMAZING. trots soo smooth its almost likea gaited horse and a rocking horse canter. but dreamers still my main man and WILL NEVER EVER leave me, even if he ever ends up non ridable. if i wasnt moving i would buy this horse in a heart beat.. and hes only like 5 or 6

Bummer...unfortunately the rest of them don't want to feel left out when one is hurt. Sibling rivalry ;) I hope all the critters are well soon.

TODAY HAS BEEN A GREAT DAY!!! dreamers been on stall rest for almost a week, last time i wrapped him, instead of poulticing him i used a DMSO mix, then rewrapped him. I went to take his wraps off today and the swelling was almost completely gone and NO HEAT.. he finally got turned out for a couple hours today( not his normal time though).
As for miss ellie mae... we finally found out why she was soo sick... she passed a WHOLE PLASTIC SPOON today... still dont know where she got it from cause we dont use plastic spoons. :-)

Glad Dreamer is on the mend. :)
Our female dobie got real sick for a few days. Took her to the vet, got some meds and a day later she passed a WHOLE popsicle stick! I figure at that time one of the kids left their corn dog out and she ate it. After she passed the stick she felt much better.
