That's great! I remember having to ride down the road to an open field when I had my horses at home, a riding ring was always my dream too! Sure is pretty there with all the trees.

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I've been wanting one too but don't know if it'll ever happen. I ride in my friend's and it's great, around the same size as yours. You'll have so much fun!

Good for you! I'd love a riding ring but it'll probably never happen. It looks great, and is a beautiful spot!

Thanks everybodee :) I didn't realize I posted the same first picture twice. :banghead: HEHE !! I did mention to hubby I will need a pole light out there and a plug in for a radio. Along with a bench and a hitching post. The ring is my Christmas present from Hubby.
For the gals wanting a ring don't give up do like I did and keep dropping it in hubby's/boyfriend/parents ear. Hey it took me 10 years be patient and persistent. lol ! Are place is pretty hilly is why it took me so long. If you remember me posting pics of a Halloween party. That is where we got talking with a friend to low and behold find out he added a bulldozer to his collection of man toys. HEHE !!

very cool! what are you using for drainage and to prevent the hill from landsliding? Just curious because all we really have left on our property is hill unless I ride a couple minutes down the road to my grandmas.

Thanks RedHayflinger. Its hard to tell in the picture but its not really on the hill side. It was already a bit flat there. He just made it more level and a bit bigger. I know he removed the grass and top soil so far down. We are just letting it settle over winter then he will be back in the spring to polish it up where its needed. Sorry I am not much help in the details.

That is great. You will get a lot of use out of it. I am going to make my husband make me one next year. I already have a spot for it. He will not be too happy because he just seeded it down last year, not I am making him tear it up. :innocent: But with the girls getting bigger it will really help them with their riding.

What kind of footing will you have? We looked at footing for our roundpen at the Equine Affaire and it was..cough, gag, choke...$17,000 just to do an teeny weeny round pen. :eek:Needless to say, we are staying with our stonedust. It works well. :cowboy:

We will be using sand or stone dust. Most people around here use sand.
Thanks Gals. :) I can't wait till its all done. I have to be patient a bit longer. :)

Wonderful! You must be so excited! I have been asking (nagging!!) for an arena for years - still nothing. Seems that something always comes up to take the money that would otherwise go towards an arena. Last year - we built horse stalls - which I also desperately wanted. Even though we will use the stalls less than an arena - they were necessary, so - I guess that's step one. Next year - an arena??!! I even work for a gravel hauling company, and my husband has a bobcat and can clear the topsoil - so it's not like it'll be all that expensive - (not $17G anyway!!) - I guess I'll just have to keep nagging,.... er,..... I mean "asking"!!!!:)

That's a beautiful setting for an arena. I can't wait to see the finished product. We use sand in ours. Congratulations.

That's Great. I know you will enjoy. We had one built about the same size last Spring, It has rained here soooo much that we have not enjoyed it like I really wanted. But we plan to change that soon.
Can't wait to see pictures of you riding in your new ring! I agree with Toodlestoo, It is gorgeous setting for your arena.
