I havent posted very much, but I thought I would update you all that Ben is moving barns. My friend and I have been at this barn for a while, and we are very close to the BO's, but it is not right for our horses. They have 12 horses, and one turn out area for winter, so our horses go out maybe 3 days a week, which I dont like. Also their arena is all sand, and has a hard track, not good at all for our horses legs. The biggest thing is the stalls. They are bedded with wood pellets, but they have no where near enough.. ben gets about 1 1/2 coffee cans a day. So we are moving! we have been looking around and have made a decision... we are going to a place with

huge stalls (with shavings!!)
turn out every day with mud free paddocks for around 6 hours..with shelters
indoor arena with mirrors
outdoor dressage arena
nice staff, they really care
food is weighed by scale for every meal, choice of timothy or alfalfa, you can say how many pounds of each you want
grain twice a day

The main barn is $550 (what im paying now for not nearly the same service) and the new barn (where ben and my friends horse will be) is $625... very good prices for around here. Im very excited!!

Sorry you have to leave your friend's place but sounds like it will be much better at the new place for the horses. Good luck with the move.

Good luck! Sounds like the new place is high quality, and i would move too if you can get the same service for the same price you're paying now.

Holy moly, that's the most expensive board I've seen.

Ditto...525, holy crap! Granted I haven't boarded horses in a few years but wow, things are expensive where you are.

Good luck at the new place :)

Out in the suburbs of Seattle where Jacki's boarding is the most expensive area of the state, unfortunately for her... Very high cost of living, for people and horses.

Wowza! Horse paradise! Especially if you're training dressage!

ya its a nice barn...

tiz and palo: that is no where near the most expensive around here, probably one of the cheapest for those services. I ran across multiple barns for around 1,000 a month, which I can in no way afford!!

It sounds like a good move! Good luck; I'm sure you and your horses will enjoy it!

When I was still taking lessons, the group of people who ran the barn I was at dismantled their company. The boarders all went to a fancy show barn that charged $1000/mo, and that was 20 years ago! I can't imagine what they charge now. So, in light of that, I don't think you're paying that much.

NOT MOSES lake....but MOSS lake...it's a little area of trails in that general area I'm sure...... The moss hangs from the trees and makes for very pretty green light when you ride in their during the summer months...

The old riding place....hummmm I wonder...I will have to come for a visit and see ya at the new place!!

hope to see you too!! oh and I forgot the best parts..... then have an actual bathroom with a flushing toilet and sink!!! (to those who have been using a honey bucket for 5 years, its a big deal!)

and they just spend 10,000 dollars making the paddocks mud free!

It's the little things that make it worth the xtra $$. :cowboy:
Getting mud-free paddocks means a lot when you have limited riding time:cool:!
