I know we have some photoshopsy type people here!
OK, my dilemma is this: I went to open it, and it said there's an error so it shut down. I uninstalled it and now I'm trying to reinstall it, and it keeps coming up with an error saying there is a problem with drive G:\. However, the disk is in either E:\ or D:\ (we have 2 disk drives), I do't even know what drive G:\ is - I've unplugged everything I can think of, but I think it may be the mouse, monitor or keyboard D: I tried installing it from the desktop...any help??

It may be a setting left over from your previous installation. Look in C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop and delete it and any files inside of it. Then try the installation again.

I have a brand new Photoshop Elements sitting on my desk. Have never used it or installed it. I am waiting to get my new computer first. I sure hope I don't have the same problem.

This can happen when you previously installed the Software from G drive (it will be a registry setting).
If I understand, you have 2 CD/DVD drives, D and E, but when you try to install it asks for G drive (when looking for the installation CD drive).
Are you running XP ? Try this;
Remove any CD/DVDs from drives
Right Click (My Computer) and choose Manage.
Then choose (Disk Management)
Under DiskManagement, Right Click on your CD/DVD E drive icon
and pick (Change Drive Letter)
click the Change, and set the drive letter to be G.
This simply re-arranges the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive.
Maybe that's all it needs for the install to continue.
