Well, here is my mom's boyfriend's ohrse, Ranger. He came last night, I just put him out into a pasture today. He has a bad cough and we want to keep him seperate from the other horses until we know what's going on. (The vet has already been called, waiting for her to call back)

He's a unregistered grade horse, 15.1hh, sold to Dan as a 10 yr old but looking at his teeth I think he's in his mid teens. I'm also led to believe he is partially blind in his left eye, its very blue and he doesnt have much of a reaction when you wave your hand in front of it, but he still has a little one. Nonetheless Dan has fallen in love with this horse.. His hooves need to be trimmed and he needs lots of love. He's not an overally affectionate gelding..

But I like him. My Mom's boyfriend is into the whole old school horse owning.. giving horses cigarettes to worm them.. didn't know feeding 20 treats and 20 apples each a day is bad.. I'm trying to show him what proper horse owning is. He's learning.. slowly, but learning..

Trot trot trot.. Another horse that doesn't liek to be caught (Raen didn't but is fine now, Melee is still coming along, now we gotta work with him. :doh:)

I love his color. Makes me miss my mare, yet again..lol
I hope is ok'd by the vet. Will be looking for more stories on him.

I'm sure you will win him over in no time! I live that photo about halfway down where he is looking at your like "I'm keeping an eye on you, young lady." He'll be putty in your hands before he knows it.

Thanks everyone! I haven't hard him cough since he was outside but I'm going to keep him separated just in case. He's in my "barrel pasture" and a pasture away from the horses but he can still see them.

I think his head looks a lot like Keidas from the side, but Keidas has a bit more of a drafty build IMO. Can't really tell in these pictures but he has slim legs, while Keidas has those lovely tanks of legs and pasterns.

But good news! The vet is coming out Monday morning, the soonest we can get her. She's going to check him all out, his cough, teeth, eyes, and she's also going to give Prodigy a shot he's missing and check out Melee's teeth to see how old he is. Woo hoo!

Thanks again everyone, he's a sweety, I'm not all that attached to him but i think I'll warm up sooner or later. Dan really likes him though.

I hope the cough isn't from cigarettes? lol I know that was lame but that's just me.

Very cute boy.. love the pics! He looks like he'll be a lot of fun to work with.

My horse had that same cataract thing going on with his left eye. In fact, in the first pic in my album you can see it pretty clearly. He didn't react much to waving/hand flapping on that side, but aside from the discoloration you'd never have known it.. but I know you probably know that. :)

Can't wait to follow Ranger's story.. let us know what the vet says Monday. :D

He looks lovely :) what a pretty boy! I love his name, it's so cool. And his colouring is gorgeous.
We all know you'll have him sorted in no time ;)

His cough may just be allergy related and being outside will be good for him. Easter has a cough that comes and goes with the weather. Last spring we put her on Prednisone and it cleared up quickly. i also use the Cough Free powder stuff as well and it seems to be working. If you haven't heard hin cough for a few days it may be just from the change in weather also. Good luck!

Awww I love his sweet face, he looks like a very nice horse, and I love that red chestnut color, he's such a deep rich red! He has a soft kind eye.

Lol, I laughed. Funny.

He's a cutie. Interested to hear what the vet says. If that eye has moon blindness in it you guys will be treating a lot. We had a gelding with moon blindness in both eyes and man oh man what a time trying to keep his eyes. We finally gave up on one and had it removed and the other is 100% blind but it's not weepy or infected. Just have to watch it and every so often start up the drugs again.

I have never in my life heard the cigarette thing about worming. Very strange. Glad he has you to help him out!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I haven't heard him cough since we put him outside.. whatta relief. The vet is still coming to check him out, though.

LoveX, they look a lot alike! Wow! Head shape and all. What breed is Xandi?

He's coming around nicely tho.. Dan has been out there everyday spending time with him.
