Well I brought my horse, Signe, home from the trainer today. It was her second time in the trailer in two years and she did well. The first time was a month ago when I brought her there. That was my first time ever loading a horse and her first time in two years.
Only one little problem today was when I opened the gate in the electric fence she spooked a little and somehow I got a dandy rope burn from the lead rope. One of life's little lessons and I was lucky I guess. My first instinct was was to hold on tight, Oops, didn't work out so well.
More new lessons starting tomorrow and continuing on for who knows how long. Oh yeah, I love owning horses :)

He,he! I think we all have that instinct of hanging on rather than letting go. You can't win on that one, unless you're wearing gloves, lol!
Hang on, you get a rope burn- let go, you've got a loose horse!

Wishing you the best of luck through your life long journey.......I always have my gloves on when working the horses.......hate rope burn especially on your fingers when you loose your finger prints for a while OUCH!

I usually wear gloves too but you know how that goes. The one time you don't is the time you should have. I only had to lead her about 20 yards from the trailer to the pasture and didn't put any gloves on. Of course I now have a cool looking palm for Halloween lol.

Yeah, we want to see pictures! Good luck with her.
I hardly ever wear gloves when I'm working the horses, although I know I should. I've had my share of rope burns, but now I (usually) just let go. I'd rather have a loose horse than a rope burn. The horse isn't going anywhere.

I always hang on if they spook too, just instinct for me I guess....lol. But I wear gloves quite often.

I have learned to wear gloves when handling the horses now. Mostly cause I have a thing about dirty hands though... I am a clean freak. I asked my hubby to groom them today and he was like " you want me to do what?? and Why??? "

Wow! Kind of demanding on the pics! It was dark outside when we came home. I'll see if I can get some today if I have time. I'm in for lunch now and try to read here a little when I get a chance at lunch time if I'm here.
It's a beautiful day so maybe a pic or two is in order. I will try to comply.

I went outside to take some pics to appease the Baywind people but all the horses were in the dark in the old barn sleeping. I'll try again since they usually would rather eat than sleep. For now I am going to grill some elk burger.

Ah - Very good! Applause! Now isn't this thread better?
Signe is lovely! And her filly.
Now, some pictures or video of the spook and rope burns, well that would have been a bonus :D

Wow! Kind of demanding on the pics!
AND??? LMBO You know we are pic needy people here.
Glad things went well with the trailer. If'n ya got a horse in training, gloves are a must. I have a permanent scar on the back of my hand, my fault.
Cant wait to see pics.
