So I am moving barns, and I have grain tubs right now, but I want to switch back to smartpaks... they will be much easier . Right now my BO does my grain and I dont know if the doses they give you are ok. It is all the same grain, just want to make sure the amounts are ok.
ProBios (2 scops or 10 grams daily)
Smart Flex II Maintance(1 scop of 22 grams daily)
Smart Hoof (1 scoop 1 oz Daily)
Cool Calories (2 scoops or 2 scoops daily)
I know its hard without knowing what he gets now, but I dont know.. he is a 9 year old TB who gets ridden usually 4-5 times a day for 30-45 min. English pleasure riding and trails, dressage, no serious jumping

What's the question? The doses there are what SmartPak recommends? They seem right to me.

Usually, SmartPak doses are listed as the maintenence dose, so unless you need more or less than the average for any reason, they are as they should be.
One of the reasons I like SmartPaks, as well!:)That, and the fact they're not as expensive as everyone thinks- especially if you live in an area where you have only a minimal selection of supplements.:p

thanks gypsy! thats what I was thinking, just wanted to double check. I used to buy the containers, but im going to a bigger boarding barn and its either smartpaks, or put all the doses in ziplock bags, which I am trying to avoid!

If anything, when in doubt, you can always call SmartPak. Their product specialists really know their stuff.

Yup and they're really friendly too. My 2 favorite places to call Smartpak and 1-800-CONTACTS. Those places know how to do customer service right! ;)

I know SmartPak's measurements aren't always right, but those sound right. They say you should feed like 2 oz of Omega Horseshine a day, when on the bag it says up to 2 cups.

offgrid: I havent done much trailer training ... I have been really busy with school and im staying in olympia this weekend to study for finals, but I will be done with finals tuesday and thats when the work will start! I think I will practice walking him on wood and things that sound funny, and also teach him to step up on things... still going back and forth in my brain on whether I want the vet there as backup with the sedative..

If you can give your own shots would they let you do it? Could you just have the shot on hand? Just curious. I really have no idea if they let you give your own sedatives.

I dont think they do.. I have a calming powder, but its not a sedative, just something in their grain you can add. The trailering company says they have only had one horse they couldnt load and he was not broke at all, and that everything will be fine. Im just nervous. He has been in a trailer before, every week for lessons, but that made him sour and bitter about it. I just need this to happen.. im too exicted about moving for it to not happen. Last time he wouldnt get it my dad and I had to walk him about an hour to the new barn... not fun...I just need to not be nervous
