I was called last night to compete in schools jumping today, so excuse mahh pony not being exactly sparkling white =/
The fences were bigger than the last schools jumping, but because I was called last night I didn't have all week to worry about it, which was good hehe.. I guess. I guess some of you know showjumping isn't my thing, I've been training low at home because I'm scared of falling etc =/ But I had to go out and do this, for my friends and for my school.

He was going okay, bucking in the warm-up cause he was SO fresh, tossing his head and being all silly as he is xD He then crashed through the first straight-rail we tried in the warm up, my fault completely, half asleep as I was, but I'm not going to lie, it gave me a good fright.. After my friend jumped her round she came back to shout at me and tell me what to do, I won't usually jump unless someone is REALLY getting on at me to do it, especially if I'm scared. Needless to say he soared over the rest of our warm up fences, the good pony that he is :)

We came into the arena and did our round, eight faults but only to be expected, I'm horribly out of practice and didn't check into a fence or two, I was nervous and hadn't eaten anything at all, all day (and it was 3pm ) so towards the end of my round I was starting to feel horribly ill. He jumped like a star, litte flying changes here and there and snapping his knees up for his momma ^_^

My little sis was watching me in the viewing gallery and when I was doing my round, some of the freakin' stuck up, up their arses, fancy school people were saying 'my dog can jump higher than that horse.' When my sister came out to tell me I was so angry, I can honestly say I nearly cried. My horse is the hardest horse I have ever ridden in my life, he can be a pig, he needs a lot of work done and he tries his heart out over every fence, and these type of riders that beat the crap out of their poor ponies to get them to perform, believe me, I've seen them. They certainly didn't mean their remark as a compliment, something they could surely laugh about.

I get so mad at people bashing us and it really is starting to get on my freakin' nerves. Some people on youtube also push their obnoxious, idotic selves to make some stupid comments about Samson, his ability and his build. I'm getting pretty annoyed.

A few pics from today.

You know we all think you and Samson are magnificent. I really think he's cool. And I really am impressed that you will admit you're scared and go anyway.

It's not just equestrians, there are snobs in every corner. And no one likes being around them. People like being around you and Samson :)

So there :p

Everyone's an expert on Youtube ;).

No...wait, I got that wrong.

...everyone's an idiot on Youtube. That sounds about right :D.

Don't worry about the snobs - people see them for what they are but don't like to say things to them. The best thing you can do is ignore them. Or tell them what people really think of them and see if they're brave enough to say anything back :). I'd go with the latter, but I'm quite....straight talking to people like that.

And Samson looks awesome ^^. I do love cobs.

Stuck up snobs rarely have bonds with their horses like you do with Samson. I'm assuming all most of them care about is wiinning.

You have the right attitude. You care about Samson, and you enjoy him for what he is. If they don't like it, that's tough.:p

I grew up riding the odd horse out. An arab. In 4-H it was 10 to 1 Quarter horses and I was riding the little arab. Everyone else paid $10k for their QH horses and had moms that were professional trainers. I on the other hand rode my little arab that I paid for with my own money and I taught myself most of what I knew by watching others. When I beat out the other girls they would literally cry LOUD ENOUGH for everyone on the show grounds to hear and then they'd ignore me for the rest of the year. It was pretty bad.

Anyhooo.... Long story short, I can relate. Ignore them and enjoy your horse. It's not about winning. It's about doing what you love with the one you love to be with. :D

Ah Allie, I haven't read all the responses yet but I am sure I am repeating when I tell you that you and Samson are an amazing team and the people that say those awful things are just miserable people who have to bash others to make themselves feel worthy of their own skin.

I know it is hard to not let the things they said get to you, but remember in the times that you feel down from instances like this that you two are amazing and many of us here love to see you two sore and smile. Keep up your hard work with that pony of yours you have nothing to prove to anyone, so you and Samson enjoy each other.

You and Samson are AMAZING to do what you do!! He is gorgeous and you both look so nice.

One thing about snobs who act that way.....I seriously think they are really just jealous! They only wish they had a bond with their horse or could do the things you and Samson do, people like those snobs act that way to make themselves feel better, it's sad..... and I agree, it sure does get irritating, at the Arab horse shows I used to go to, the snobs about drove me nuts....but then I realized that most people who talk that way, are just very unhappy people.....

What WB said, Samson is so beautiful, some might just be jealous that you have such a beautiful boy. You find people like that everywhere. Just ignore them and go on.

Thankyou, and you're right! Winning is top on their list and if they do, a pat isn't something they give the poor horse.. Last time I showed at that arena for my school, one girls horse refused, she whipped it three times behind the saddle, took it back into the fence, it kind of stalled at it, but did jump it, and she was whipping it over the fence, and still going when it landed. It was truly..horrible. To watch.

thankyou. i must admit, its real nice to come on here, its like a biiiig family. I do just get angry though, not at myself, or at Samson, but at the people for not giving him enough credit for the saint he has been all these years. He might tip a pole or two on a 2'9 course, but i know he has the heart to jump 3'3-3'6 cross-country fences, something all these fancy ponies may aswell balk at.. =/

I agree, I think they must be unhappy with themselves, and their performances to have to treat other people that way, and everyone knows about being nice to everyone throughout sport, something I always do myself! If someone has ridden an especially nice round, I'll congradulate them when they come out, regardless of who they are, or if they've fallen, ask them if they are okay =/ Sometimes they don't respond, sometimes they do.. =/ I've always tried t okeep good sportsmanship.

You have no clue how many times I had seen this type of thing in my years of showing, only here, it was mostly those in gymkhana events. There were a few in particular.....

They treat their horses like machines.

It was wonderful when I did run across ones who truly loved their horses and showed for the sheer fun of it, or to guage their improvement. I don't know what it's like here now, but when I was showing, you actually had to look for those kind of people. They weren't the obvious, if you know what I mean.

You and Samson are going about things the right way, and he's your best buddy. You always look out for his interests first, and that is how it should be.

* shakes head sadly* Some people ( the snots) never quite get it. The competition is 90% individual. Yes, you may be competing against each other, but it's all about you and your mount together. A team. It doesn't matter how high the jump is. The goal is to have the best ride YOU can. Form, motion, communication.

These are usually the same people who judge others by the cost of the car they drive. Ladies and gentlemen, can you say LOSERS? yes, I knew you could.
