I was out at the stable yesterday, and they're putting up the new barn and indoor arena....just in time for winter! Woo hoo! The old barn was destroyed in a tornado earlier this past summer. I didn't get pictures though, because I didn't have my camera with me at the time, I had been out running errands and decided rather than going back home I would just keep on going out to the stable.

I'm still at a loss for a new name for Koko/Baroness tho. Sheesh. I just cannot come up with anything that really does it for me. They named her Baroness though.....so maybe for the time being I will just nickname her "Ness".....lol! I brushed her and worked on teaching her to move away from pressure, but with the guys there putting up the barn so close by it was noisy and there was lots of activity while they were hauling up the trusses, or frame, or whatever it is called, and the barn is between her pasture and the outdoor arena.....so we just stayed near the gate to her pasture and I worked with her a little there. She had a little spook while I was brushing her, I didn't have her tied, I was just holding onto the lead rope, but she stopped right away when she hit the end of the lead rope and after that she was a good girl. It was a very windy day, and with all the trucks and heavy equipment out there making noise, that may have freaked her out. Plus they were lifting up this huge section of the barn roof while I was out there so that easily could have scared her, they had this tall lift-like thing (almost like a crane) and were hauling up the V-shaped section of the end of the roof. I'll get pictures next time! I also met a couple of the other boarders while I was out there, they seemed very nice, so I'm looking forward to seeing them out there again and perhaps making some new friends!

Call her Nessie! Like the big loveable water monster of Loch Ness in Scotland :D
Not that your pony's a water monster, the name just reminded me.

Glad it's all getting set up! A tornado - how scary:eek:!! Where have they been living since then?

Sounds like she's going to be pretty well desensitized by the time they get all that work done. That's going to help you out a lot when you really get going on her training.

Glad to hear that things are finally getting done - it's starting to get pretty chilly out!

You could always call her Bess.

Hopefully you'll get some barn-building pics!

Glad things are going well with your scrumptious red roan. Sounds like you have already named her Ness--I agree with Gypsy Rose, Bess would be quite nice. I like the sound of it. Ness or Bess--I'd choose one of those. Looking forward to more updates.:)

lol....names sure are hard to come up with sometimes!

Their house wasn't destroyed in the tornado, just the barn....so they've been living there yet.

It will just be a small indoor arena.....but it still will be so nice. I haven't had a place to work a horse in the winter for years now, so this will sure be handy. Heck, for the past several years I never even had an outdoor arena....so this is awesome because now I have both.

I want an indoor arena too. Scratch that... I would be happy with a round pen!

Good luck on the name change. (again). :) I was never really happy with Booty either, but she's had the same name for the last 13 years, I felt bad changing it. And she knows it. Now it's kind of grown on me.

I usually dont like names like Sugar, just ewws me

I dont know why, but she looks like a Shug to me. Short for Sugar. Or a Brandy, and that would ug me too.

Why Shug(Sugar), she looks sweet, there is a sweetness about her, and she has powdered sugar sprinkled on her..lol...see it.

I'll get pictures one of these days, but yesterday I stopped out there after running errands so I didn't have the camera with me.....it was only the frame that was up anyway, so not really much to see of the barn at this point anyway.

LOL....she does have a powdered sugar look all over her body, cute idea for a name!

Lol, I know what you mean Vick, I feel that way about the names Fancy and Roxy. I've known a couple of horses with those names and the sound of them just irks me.

I'll take my camera along next time I go out there.....:) I'll get pics of the barn going up, and of Ness too.
Names are such a funny thing....there are names that bug me too.....lol. Well, who knows....maybe a new name will come to me eventually, but for now I may as well sort of keep her original name and just shorten it up a bit....lol.

That's why I was thinking Bess- sort of short for Baroness. Though Ness would do the same thing, lol!
