Well as some of you know I had to get my four wisdom teeth and one permanent tooth removed yesterday. I went in at 10 and they were done with there part in about 20 minutes! :eek:They did put me to sleep to do it so it took some time for me to "recover" and get awake. Hubby said as I was coming to the first thing I did with my mouth full of gauze was ask the doctor when I could start riding, and attempted to use sign language by putting my hand in front of me and taking it side to side like I was using a pair of reins.................. I'm such a ditz.:D I also told hubs there were four of him.
SO after I got awake enough to leave they walked me out ( hub and nurse) and I climbed into our jacked up F250 all by myself. ( was proud of that at the moment) We then went to KFC so I could get some mashed potatoes.
By now I am tired of eating nothing but mashed potatoes, jello, and soup....... I keep eyeing up the junk food... Yummmy..... I don't look too much like a chipmunk, little bit of swelling though. Trying not to over do it but I already vaccummed the house and gave the kitten a bath that showed up couple days ago so she can stay inside, ( she had fleas..... ) Anyhoo, just wanted to bore you guys/girls with my story since I'm staying home from work today.
New Kitten anyone???????Need to find her a home too.

Ouch! Well, if you're home from work, you should be able to come up with some wild threads...I'll be peeking in throughout the work day!

Oh, you are so lucky! That may seem like a weird thing to say, but it sounds like you are all ready on the rode to recovery and not in *too* much pain. I was misserable for almost a MONTH (actually.. now that I do the math it may have been longer) after having my wisdom teeth out. I somehow managed to get TWO dry sockets:rolleyes::eek::(. *shudder* Now that was painful.:(

Glad to hear your on the mend so quickly - we aren't even going to start talking about what I went thru  lets just say 1 month later I was on the mend.

You poor thing Dakota! I'm hoping not to get any dry sockets. they sutured me on the bottom teeth, but not on the top. I just did my gargle salt water routine I have to do starting today....
I'm on Vicodin so not too much pain. Trying to ice my cheeks everynow and again. I was in a good bit of pain before b/c the one wisdom tooth had a cavity in it and it was torture so i actually feel better now.
Thanks arrow!

Hope you heal up quickly, mandisue. The sutured ones are actually a lot easier to deal with, IMO. Been there, done it, too, including the dry socket, lol! Make sure you faithfully do your saltwater rinse, and don't eat anything you're not supposed to, and you should be fine!
I remember when you got yours, Lizzy- I actually had a good idea what you were going through-ouch!

I think I got told to do that too.. can't remember if I listened or not.
I'm not sure if they told you this, or if you got the list of Not To Do's like I did, but do NOT spit. Especially don't spit out the blood if the clot comes out and starts bleeding again.
I was pretty loopy even after my mom got me home and set up on the couch. My mouth started bleeding again, but I was too doped up to care. I just made my way to the sink and spit out the blood. I'm no vampire so I didn't intend to swallow it. Well right after I walk away from the sink, I find my mom reading this little sheet of paper that apparently is the "Don't Do THIS" list. You know what the #1 rule was on it? No spitting; it causes dry sockets. Good to know.
I'm on Vicodin so not too much pain.
That is good stuff. Except my mouth hurt to much for me to eat much at all so the pills made me a little sick. But as long as you don't take them on an empty stomach they work great.
I went through TWO prescriptions of those pills, my oral surgeon couldn't believe it when I finally broke down and went in to find out what hurt so much. That's when he told me I had two dry sockets. When my mom asked what she should be giving me for the pain, he said to just stay on the vicodin pills. When I told him I had taken them all all ready he just stared at me.:innocent: I did talk him into giving me another prescription though!:p
Trying to ice my cheeks everynow and again.
I found that frozen peas and corn works the best. I didn't swell up too much the first day.. that came later.
I'm just full of good, helpful information, aren't I?

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery and you are at a good speed! Your sign language about riding to the dr. is hysterical! Too bad hubby didn't get it on video so you could share with us. ;)

Loves I"m sure you guys would have gotten a kick out of it if we had it on video. I probably would too. Thanks for all the info Dakota! Just did my salt water rinse. Teeth are killing me this morning, cheeks look like suseys do when they're full of grain, ( still need to get a pic of that...) if I'm feeling brave i'll take a pic today of my cheeks all swollen.
