Idle minds can come up with lots of goofy stuff. Lately I have been daydreaming about where I would move to if I ever left Minnesota. All of my family is here but I have been tinkering with the idea of moving to the mountains. I love my trips to the rockies and would like to spend more time there than the 10-14 days a year I get there.
So, I f I could go anywhere I have been thinking about southern Colorado and just lately have found an interest in Wyoming. Anybody have any suggestions on these areas?
Where would you go if you could live anywhere?

I'm not sure really. I think if I could go ANYWHERE and money wasn't an issue I would move Playa del Carmen or Cozumel.

More realistically I'd love to live in Cannon Falls, MN. Own acreage and enjoy the country. =)

If money wasnt an issue? Hmm, thats a hard one. I love beach front and foothills. Maybe, IF money wasnt an issue, I could have both on the west coast. I would then be close to home.

I love Colorado, my favorite area is the Black Forest area in Colorado, as well as just west of Colorado Springs. The weather out there is ideal, beautiful summers. It may snow in winter, but it doesn't stay bitter cold there like it does here in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Here is a photo I took back in 1994 at the entrance to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

Hard choice. I love Minnesota in the summer, but hate it in the winter. I would have to do some research before making a decision, for sure. I've never known any place but the North Country, lol!

Is it just coincidence that three of the first four to comment are from MN & WI. lol These winters must get to all of us. Vicklynn isn't all that much better off in MO. :)

Apparently your budget is a little bigger than mine! I was dreaming for retirement but if I was dreaming for dreaming sake the sky would be the limit and those places might do. LOL

Winters arent as severe as what MN & WI get, but it gets ugly.
The people here, the tornadoes, those are the things I can do without.

Egypt. I would love to live there someday. Pyramids...all that stuff. I think it'd be great. More likely though, I'd like to move to Arizona some day. I love the desert and all the wide openness. I hate trees and stuff, it makes me feel way too closed in.

I have always wanted to live in CO or so. I love the great lakes though and the ocean, so I'm not sure where that would put me. I've vacationed in Denver/Mesa, CO area and LOVED it.
I would live in Oregon, but further down the valley, in better farming country, or east of the mountains where the people are still normal.

I love to travel and see new places... but both realistically and unrealistically, I'd like to live in the mountains in northern Georgia forever. I almost definitely see myself moving away in the next few years, but I really hope that I come back. Nothing beats the people, the food, the scenery... and having family so close. :)

Well I have 4 or 5 places, one if we had the money and my parents would move we'd be gone tomorrow. The others are just dreams. If I could have my dreams it would be somewhere I could look out and see huge mountains, Colorado, Wyoming or Montana. My brother in law is building a cabin in Montana and will be getting beautiful views, I told them make a room for me, I don't care if it's a closet with a window. I want those views. Living out west probably will never happen. I've had alot of info given to me though since Facebook and getting in contact with childhood friends who have moved out west they've given me alot to think about. The other place is Stowe VT. We LOVE it there. We have friends there, we own a time share there and about 8 yrs ago almost bought a house, we are still kicking ourselves for not buying it and renting it out until my husband retired. We never thought he'd retire so early, if we bought it we'd be living there now since he retired in June. I'd have to kidnap my parents since they don't want to live in VT and I want to live near them but they are the places I'd pick. I also love the area of NY I grew up in, I would go back there too but my man won't, the taxes are way too high but I love Woodstock, it's so alive there. I wish I never left. I know one place I'd never pick to live and I am living here, PA, I hate PA. If I could be out of here I'd be out as fast as I could pack.

I love Oregon!!! I think if (when) I move it will be in this state. If I ever moved out of state it would be somewhere warmer and drier! But fantasy move, if money was no object, I would still live here I think, just with an awesome spread!!!

Ooh gorgeous pics Petra. Is that somewhere up north? The hills and everything just make me think Canada/Alaska. That's how it looked when we went up there at least :]

Only for the summer, but Banff, Canada is so awesome. We went on a wilderness overnight on quarter/draft horses and I think the area is spectacular!!! But, wouldn't want to live there in the winter. Florida is wonderful in the winter.

Awww Petra I would love to visit there some day, I think I mentioned my mother was Czech. She was not born in Czechoslovakia (she was born here in the U.S.), but my mother and her side of the family were Czech.... my aunt did show me a picture once of some relative's home over there. It is a gorgeous country!! Areas of southwestern Wisconsin are sort of similar to that, with lots of rolling hills and valleys (altho no mountains here).
