Well today is the PERFECT day. In fact I think it's the BEST day I've had with the horses since we brought them home last Spring.

It was so beautiful out that I called my mother in law and convinced her to come watch the kiddos so hubby and I could go for a ride.

Hubby got the horses up, I brushed them down, and he saddled up Booty. He agreed that he would ride her tonight even though she's "my" horse. ;)

I bridled Norman and hopped on bareback and off we went.

IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! Those of you that know, I have SEVERE confidence issues while riding. But strangely enough I found out tonight that I think my problem has been Booty. Tonight on Norman I felt so at ease! Corny, but I felt like I was "home". In fact, that song "feels like Home to me" kept playing in my head. lol.

We rode for about an hour around the pasture. Hubby is the PERFECT fit for Booty. Assertive and direct. I know all the things I "should" do when she acts up, but I don't have the confidence to do it while I'm on her. Hubby does. :) She gave him a run for his money, but with my direction he got her to go real nice for him.

Their buddy sour issues weren't bad either. Booty/Hubby were on one side of the pasture and we were on the other. They were cantering, etc. and Norman just moped along as his nice slow pace. :p

Suprisingly since I was bareback I did lots of trotting with Norman and it was a DREAM! He has the nicest, smoothest trot. I felt like I was floating up there!

Really, I could go on and on about how great tonight was. And best of all... after seeing me with Norman, Hubby has decided that he can be "mine"!!!!!

That sounds like a great day! Good for you, it sounds like Norman is the horse for you, and Booty and your husband really hit it off! The weather was so nice here in Wisconsin, it was a great day to be outside....sounds like we may have a few more nice days like this too!

When my MIL was leaving I said, "Same time tomorrow?" ;) And she said, "We'll see!" so here's to hoping!

I'm glad you had such a fantastic day! It sounds like the horses are working out great- you never know sometimes. In fact, I ended up trading horses with my mom, and that's how I ended up with Gypsy!

Sorry, I'm excited!

lol. 12 am. and I'll *hopefully* be sleeping. unless my precious little one decides to grace us with her usual "DONE! (sleeping)" at about that time. Yes, she really does yell "DONE!" as loud as she can until we go in there and then she gives us a big goober smile and wants out of her crib. 12 am. 2 am. etc. 16 months old. You THINK she would sleep through the night.

WOw.. way off topic. :)

Nice!! It is always so confidence-boosting when things go smoothly like that. I am glad that you find you can do so well with Norman and he with Booty - makes things a lot easier when the horse fits the rider!

Well... she didn't wake up! SO I slept from 10:45 (can't tear myself away from this darn computer) until 6:15 a.m. Now I'm just anxious for hubby to get home from work so I can get out to the horses again. WITH THE CAMERA!
