View Full Version : Weath redistribution in the real world
I heard about an article that recently appeared.
The lady writing the article was going out to lunch with some friends.
On the street outside the restaurant, there was a homeless man begging for money. He had an Obama button on his shirt. She went into the restaurant and her waitress also had an Obama button.
After she ate, she told the waitress that she agreed with Obama and that she was going to redistribute the wealth to the more needy. She said she thought the homeless man was more needy than her so she was going to give her $10.00 tip to him. The irate waitress stormed off very angry. However, the homeless man was very happy with the plan.
Wealth redistribution sounds good unless it is your money that is being taken.

I really like that video clip, helps show how he can elonquently word his plans to make them sound good when they are really horrible.
My family can't afford Obamas plan. My dad researched it, and Obama would raise taxes on our family buisness and we wouldn't be able to keep up with me and my brothers' college tuition and living expenses. We'd get to be participants in Obama's forced redistribution of wealth. Oh, and we'd also fall into his criteria for a buisness that could supply health care to its employees, putting us further in the hole.
Notice how when he was talking about that, he said he'd require "Buisnesses that could supply employees with health care but don't" to do so. He never gave any solid criteria, so who is he going to be forcing to do this? What if the buisness is saving capital to expand?
Karl Marx is laughing in his grave. The biggest, most successful democracy in the world is on the verge of becoming a Socialist (or even communist) nation with big government micro-managing everything.

I received this in an email:
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character & courage by taking away people's initiative
&independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could &
should do for themselves
-Abraham Lincoln
In doing a little research to verify it was from Abraham Lincoln, I came across this one:
"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume VII, "Reply to New York Workingmen's Democratic Republican Association" (March 21, 1864), pp. 259-260.
And:
"We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name - liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names - liberty and tyranny." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume VII, "Address at Sanitary Fair, Baltimore, Maryland" (April 18, 1864), p. 301-302.
By the way, I did not find the original in my research, but then I got sidetracked with the ones I did find. These two quotes are examples, in my opinion, of this current election and the differences in McCain and Obama and how Obama wants to spread the wealth.
