Please keep us in your prayers on New Years Day. It seems to be a bad day for us with our beloved animals.
I lost my faithful Dobie Duke on New Years day. He was old but still doing well until New Years morning, he had gotten up to go outside, he fell to the ground and could not get back up. I had to take him in to put him down that morning. :( That was a few years ago.
This year will be the 1 year anniversay of loosing Ladybird. Many of you remember that horrible New Years Eve night last year, where I spent all night with Ladybird and the kids had stayed with me till mid-night. On New Years morning Ladybird died in my arms. The kids were greeted with a New Year of me calling the house to let them know we had lost our sweet Ladybird. It's been a rough year remembering that long, cold and sad night.
I am praying we have no losses this year.

I hope you and the kids can have peace and purpose in however you spend the day. Maybe spend some moments remembering and go for a ride in her honor.

Aww CG im sorry. I just teared up reading that last part. Your in my prayers
Its so hard to lose these animals. They so quickly and utterly take over our hearts and minds, and so suddenly we lose them. They are angels we can have for only a short time. You and your family were blessed with them and while they have gone on, you have their memories. I wish you and your family strenght and goos blessings for 2010.

I was already thinking about you when answering on another post. I didn't want to say anything, not that you'll ever forget but didn't want to bring it up and make it worse but that was another thread that was a heartbreaker and nobody will ever forget. I wish we could find our peace loosing our loved ones but it doesn't ever seem to come.

You and your family will be in my thoughts, Kristy! I think WB has a good idea. If you can, maybe go for a rememberance ride. I had forgotten the date...I have tears in my eyes, now. I will give Gypsy a hug from you when I go out for last hay feeding and watering.
I;m glad that Bay is on his way to you. I think you and the kids need him right now.

You'll be in my thoughts. I remember it all too.
I'm not sure about the remembrance ride. I think you shouldn't push your luck and stay put.
Not sure if I ever told you...when I got on Trigger that day, I was planning to go for a remembrance day ride for Taz. Had my plaque made; never got to hang it...only made it to emergency room with broken wrists.
I am not superstitious person, but I don't have a good feeling about it. Sorry if I sound crazy, but if I didn't say anything and something bad would happen I'd hate myself.
Hope you'll enjoy your time with your family. I really wish you all the best in a New Year. Give your kids hugs from me.

I had forgotten that was going to be your Taz memorial ride...how strange events have been this year.

Thanks everyone.
The kids, hubby and I all went to the horses today. We brought the quads out there and rode around for a bit, then we got the drag and decided to clean up the turn outs and make the arena nice and pretty. We spent most of the day out there. The kids and I will be going back out there in the morning and spending some quiet time remembering Ladybird. It sure seems like only yesterday since we lost her.
I will give Gypsy a hug from you when I go out for last hay feeding and watering. Thanks Gypsy.. I appreciate that. Give that wonderful old mare a big hug from us in the morning too. 10:00am is THE time. Kids and I will be out at the horses at that time tomorrow.

Anniversaries like that are tough, I'm hoping you have a nice peaceful New Years Day. I know what you mean about things happening at the same time of the year..... the month of May is like that for me, I love that time of year with all the flowers coming up and the leaves popping out.... but I also dread May, I have had so many bad things happen in May, I have lost a few pets in May, my dog Bentley has twice gotten seriously ill in May (he almost did not make it one May), I ended up getting sick three times in May on three different years (once resulting in a trip to the ER for my heart problem).....sort of freaks me out every year now when May 1st rolls around.
Hoping your New Years is a quiet and calm one. I was thinking of your dear sweet Ladybird too....
I lost my Kara in January two years ago.
Have a nice New Years Day, I have a feeling it is going to be a good one for you!

LOL Gypsy... anytime in the morning is fine. ;)
I just went back and read through the old thread when we were loosing Ladybird. And the thread that Vicklynn had posted when Ladybird had passed. This forum and all of you gave us strength to move forward.
I know we can never replace Ladybird, but I have found that over the past couple of weeks we have opened our hearts a bit more to Missy. Sure we have loved her, but it has always been like a love from a distance. It would feel as if we were cheating on Ladybird if we opened our hearts fully to Missy. These past few weeks I have gone out to the horses by myself and just spent time brushing and watching Missy. I think I can open up my heart to her now. She's done good by the kids over all and she deserves to be loved just as much as Ladybird was.
Tomorrow, New Years Day, we will spend the day with the horses. We will spend time putting up Ladybirds memorial and flowers, and then we will ride Missy and Dallas....ummmm MAYBE Dallas, he is pretty spunky right now. (too much time off.. ) But mostly we will give Missy lots of love and attention. She deserves that from us.... whole heartedly.
And Ladybird will still be forever in our hearts........

I am glad that you can remember Ladybird and have opened your heart to Missy a bit more. She has been great with the kids. We only borrow our loved ones for a while and it hurts when they are called home but they were never ours to begin with.

I'm going out, camera or not! Gypsy will go hungry if I don't, lol! I envy you and CG your weather! I'm running CG's time, which will make it 11 here, though. Warmer, and closer to Gypsy's feeding time. I'll just try to stay out longer without freezing!:p
